Great breakout stat on Shatty picked up by you, peter, (re, Tom Urtz), to try to install some logical sense to 9479's thick head!
It probably won't help 9479 anyway, because once he has his feeling on any Rangers matter, it stick with him for good. In this case, that would include in a Game 7 of a Cups Final, with Shatty making a great defensive play deep in the Rangers zone, and then carrying the puck all the way into the opposition's zone, to score the UNASSISTED, Cup Winning Goal.
Then 9479 will disappear until the following October, and once again post his usual, "I told UUU's all so as to Shatty", after he makes his first give away of the following new season.

This team competed hard despite not having 25% of their regular players in this game. So you can't be upset on that matter. They also hit two goal posts as well, as opposed to the Avs possibly nicking a crossbar on one chance. But this team's problem all season long in allowing the great number of scoring chances, is also due to their "PASS-PASS-PASS-PASS-PASS" mentality when in deep in the opponent's zone. That, instead of simply getting more pucks to the net first when opened, to create possible havoc in front, and less breakouts back their way from occurring.
There was no better example than after the puck drop with 1:12 remaining in the 3rd, and Hank pulled for the 6th skater. They killed themselves at least 20 seconds of that time off the ensuing face off in refusing to shoot, prior to Nash taking a HORRIBLE angle shot from the right sideboards circle's hash marks. That, as opposed to him refusing to shoot from straight out on a great scoring chance earlier in the 3rd instead. That was next followed by a Rangers icing call.
Arniel doesn't get it with his last minute or less, "set up plays" that he expects would be allowed by any opposition, in order to work to the PERFECTION necesssary. The chances for that with any team in that situation is near ZERO success, without getting more pucks to the net. This isn't football, Arniel and A.V.!

But sometimes the O'Reilly's and Duchene's do not work out well for you if you want to tank. I see now that one each has not made the net overall difference better for the Sabres and Senators as well as for the Avs, while we await to see if Andersson and Chytil will benefit us positively so here. I also see that all those #1's worked out for the "best" in leading to all those Oilers Cup Wins in the past decade. Oh, wait, they never won one in this recent period.
The Rangers plan needed is to retool, as opposed to completely sell or tank, especially with Hank around, who isn't going anywhere. Whoever you may land as a #1 if tanking a season or more, doesn't assure you anything positive in result. There will be other holes simultaneously created, which in the salary cap era, can rip teams apart. Just ask the Black Hawks as to that, even though still having Kane and Toews there.

Yeah, I heard that yesterday also, peter. They go for it from the start under Bednar, just like they did in both their's and our's season opener in October, resulting in an Avs win, despite Varlamov having to stand on his head in goal for them that game against us.
