Alex Smith for a 3rd. 1 year left on his deal. All these other guys would be long term. And that's a mistake.
- Wetbandit1

I like this move. Sure mcdermott and Reid could work it out, like the last trade

Pretty sure he didn't intentionally kill his close childhood friend. He was young and drunk and speeding in a sportscar.

Name a few .

Sure an occasional dui or drugs, but not even close to the nfl . Regardless of league size

- Boss34

Mike Ribeiro, Slava Voynov right off the top of my head.

Mario was in the room when a girl was raped. They went as far as to arrest Dan Quinn for it.

Sure, but you said in a league without trouble makers. Are there less? Sure, but it's almost all because of socioeconomic reasons. Hockey players by and large come from at the very least middle class families. A large proportion of NFL players were dirt poor.

Yea I mean I’m not disagreeing with your point either. NHL players that get in trouble stand out like a sore thumb. Many will disagree but I do believe him being black only makes it worse. (Not meant to spark a race debate) but he’s kept himself pretty clean as of late. It may just be him putting on a show, but hes performed well on the ice and that more important to me.

Think about a Canadian hockey player getting in trouble in Canada and Canadian police respond to the call. Im sure the police sweep it under the rug 9/10 times

American police are gonna want to make an example of a rich black guy

Absolutely depending on the severity. Would you want your daughter dating a convicted rapist? Or even convicted of fraud like not a bullpoop forgot to check a box, but actual sustained fraud?

Convicted would be the key word .
I would be Leary of the content of the charge.

I agree, but why have a guy with a questionable past when most of the current nhl players do not have these issues?

We all have a past, including me.
I'm Probably not going to play in the nhl

Yeah, the guys I named were either convicted or found liable in civil court. The Dan Quinn/Mario Lemieux thing was he said/she said in the 80's. The fact he was arrested is bad enough.

Edit to your edit: That's why I added the qualifier to the fraud thing. Not just a one-time thing because of circumstance, it's still wrong, but you can at least empathize, but systematically ripping people off is a completely different animal.

I get the difference in social class ect.

You just want to argue:
My point was why sign a troublemaker when there are plenty of other options?

That's a big part of why contract talks have not happened with the sabres and kane.
