They were good during that span because 2K existed and pushed them to put out a good product. There is just not enough interest to have two companies making an NHL game. From 2002-2008 I bought only 2K.

I was annoyed when I got the PS4 this year that the online multi was not free like it was with PS3. I guess if it costs money and it's a better product I am good with that.

there is a full game but ive never played it. the battle royal is free to download and all online

Hitz was so good. It was just like NHL 3's in NHL 18. Except no rules. No penalties. The only rule is if you fought an oppsoig player and lost, you player was done for the game.
