Speaking of jerseys, there is a children's clothing consignment shop in South Jersey that my wife and I frequent. I was there one day when my daughter was 2, and they had a size 4T authentic, pro stitched white Lindros jersey, something that probably cost $100 that a kid could only wear for a year. For some reason, I didn't get it (it was only $15). I told my wife, and she asked why I didn't get it and keep it until my daughter was 4, so I went back. It only took me 30-40 minutes, but it was gone when I got back. Still kicking myself on that one.

Holy god. I'd be all over that. My 3 ye old daughter has a flyers jersey that she wears when the flyers play early enough for her to watch.

Do we have any Forsberg-like players in the system we can trade?

The only must attend game of the year for me, other than Black Friday.

Eric Lindros' presence made it possible for the Wells Fargo center to get built in the first place. He was the initial drawing card at the time for all those corporate boxes that are there today.

best player in flyers history. too bad clatke never got him the help he needed to win several cups.

Going back to using only players i have seen play, mid-late 70's to current. If they held a draft with all players he would be my top pick. He was the total package. Just unstoppable.

I have two questions:

1) Will this game actually be on NBCSN for people in Philly or will it be on CSN Philly or CN8? (Meaning I'll miss it)

2) Where is Andreas Borgman? Not in the line up and not scratched.

Sitting this game. Going with Dermott and Polak, 3rd pairing.

I'd rather they put you out there than Roman Polak.

It would take me a few pages to accurately portray just what Lindros has meant to me as a Flyer fan. When I was 10, I was a Phillies fan, and no other sport mattered. I mean, I played street hockey, tossed a football around, and shot hoops, but I never cared for the other Philly teams, Then I heard that the Flyers, that lousy hockey club, traded for some "Lindros" guy. Opening night 1992, my parents turned on the game and I sat down to watch. I instantly became a huge hockey fan, and Lindros was by far my favorite player.

No other player could dominate a game with the variety of ways he could. When he wanted to, it seemed like he could will himself to a goal, and when he was riled up, every player knew to keep their head on a swivel, not that it would help. He was a better playmaker than a finisher, but had probably the best snap shot I've ever seen, and his release was amazingly quick. He could literally take over a game single-handedly, something that I've only ever seen equalled by Mario Lemieux.

Then the feud happened, then 2000 Game 7, and even as a 16-year-old, my world felt absolutely crushed in 2000. I never shed a tear over it, but it felt like part of me died the day he was traded. I understood the reasons for the trade, but I still hated it. It didn't matter where he was traded to, just knowing that he was done as a Flyer felt like part of me was missing.

Fast forward to the 2012 alumni game, the first time he would step onto the ice in a Flyers jersey in 12 years. No way would I have ever missed that. When his name was announced, I almost cried knowing that he was back with the organization as a proud alumni member. And when he made that pass to LeClair for the first goal just like it was 1995 again, I absolutely cried in joy as I celebrated, only the 2nd time I've ever cried at a game (2010 ECF Game 5). Seeing the LOD reunited in Toronto 2 Novembers ago, and seeing him score the shootout winner at the game was the highlight of my trip.

Now that I've bored you all to tears, I just want to say that he is my all-time favorite player, and nothing in this world keep me from seeing him have his number immortalized by my favorite team of all time. This may mark time #3 that I cry at a game.

Great story.

As I'm significantly older than you I have no such imprinting with Lindros, but I did thoroughly enjoy his years in Philly.

I do remember being oh so happy to stick it to my Rangers fan friends when it was ruled the Flyers deal to get him was in place before the Rangers deal. lol

Hypothetical question. How would Lindros do in today's NHL? No obstruction, no head shots... it makes you wonder.... Would he be considered the best player?
- youarewrong

In today's NHL with no obstruction and no headshots we mustn't forget there's also no hitting a guy without the puck being present. Watch the video package on this post. Watch any video package of Lindros. The vast majority of his hits would be interference by today's standards.

Maybe, but also, there wouldn't have been three people water skiing from his limbs as he tried to skate. He couldn't have been interfered with and would have been able to keep his momentum going. No slashes on the hands so he could have used his skill more. As I said before as well. He probably wouldn't have been hurt as much.

That place is going to be on fire tonight. Need a big win tonight to keep pace. Got some help last night with the Pens losing to the Ducks.

There is no reason for a flat game tonight

Great story, and yes I will have some tissues tonight. I actually teared up when they scored at the Winter Classic.

I still remember when Stevens knocked him out like it was yesterday. I DID cry.

Greatest player I ever saw IMO. Definitely the most exciting.

The way he took over games was amazing. He even sounded different when he skated, like the blades were gouging the ice. Whenever he got on the ice the crowd got noticeably bigger as they either moved to the edge of their seats or stood up. The volume level increased and the anticipation ramped up.

You could see the players on the other team start to get agitated. Playing a little more careful. Getting rid of the puck faster.

He used that little stick that he could shoot so hard with such a quick release and was an even better passer. He could skate, hit, fight, and actually play well in his own end, if for no other reason he was going to kill you if you got anywhere near him with the puck.

He was the #1 reason I came back to hockey in the early 90's. And I have never left.

Ill also add that every player in every sport owes him a debt of gratitude for taking that concussion beach literally by himself and making it the way it is now with head injuries.

HE is the reason.

Lindros is why I became a Flyers fan in 1993-94.

Hakstol is why I stopped watching Flyers games for the most part in 2017-18.

He is, and he seems like a genuinely good guy. As a kid, I can say he would do his best to sign an autograph for every kid at practice as he made his way to his truck. That's why I don't believe that story from [writer/former referee] about the ripped up posters.

I have no opinion on the matter - I don't find it unbelievable, but that doesn't mean that I believe it. Tensions were high back in the day and people do dumb stuff, or stuff they normally wouldn't do, when tense.
