Scotty Bowman was on a lengthy interview yesterday on Sportsnet AM 590 - Prime Time Sports. If you can access, it is still available to listen to. He said specifically that it isn't vertigo as being reported, Cro has post concussion syndrome. He also spoke about him and Zdeno Chara having a conversation about his friend Marion Hossa. FWIW. - RickJ
Hossa's fully recovered and coming back to be the Hawk's savior??

Chara told Bowman that Hossa had just lost the fire to play anymore, there's the skin thing but also he has a young family at home and he just doesn't want the hockey anymore. (Of course only making a million bucks a year has nothing to do with it |

So ol' Scotty has had just about enough of Mr. McD's tightly-controlled PR ship. |

I don't care if this is fake news or not.... For as mediocre as we have been this year, and very hard to watch at times, this kind of teaser is FANTASTIC!

If you can, listen to the interview, you be the judge. I got the impression that Scotty knows what's going on with Crawford and he made reference to an injury earlier in the season which would have been late November I think when he missed time. Otherwise didn't sound to me like Scotty is very closely involved with the Hawks day to day. So why would he care very much about McD's rules? |

Tongue-in-cheek on my part. I did listen to the portion with the Crawford quote. Sounded like he was just relating an informed opinion, based on earlier knowledge and experience. If November, that would have been the Malkin hit, most likely. |

That's what I like to hear. Scotty's son should not be put on a petastol and his job performance should be objectively assessed at the end of the season. Scotty being "out of the loop" gives me optimism that Stan will not be given a longer leash simply due to who his father is. |

I got the same impression from the audio. I've also given some thought to it and it is possible Crawford doesn't want the hockey world to know all the details of his injury.
What happens to his value if he has concussion issues? He will be 35 when his contract ends and some elite goalies can keep playing for a while 35+.
If he has post-concussion syndrome, than who knows how long he could be out. He could be back before too long or he could be done for the season (or longer).
The Hawks need to focus on the part of the season they can control. While they had a couple rough game recently, in general the effort on the ice has been improving. If guys like #2 and #7 can get back into form, it would go a long way to helping the team. |

They need about a 12 game winning streak because what they can't control is all of the other teams in the Central winning every night. Had a look at the scoreboard tonight?
Playoffs are a very tall task for the Hawks, doubt they have the parts to get it done. |

I know that this season could still come together. AA coming back could help. Maybe Stan adds a D and/or a G and/or another forward. Maybe CC makes it back. Sikura could add some excitement. Maybe some Rockford guys make an impact. The team could come together, building on the improved play of late. It isn't a complete lost cause. And, I'm glad Stan is keeping an eye towards next year and the future after that with the moves he's made so far (Duclair, Rockford call-ups, sending Franson down, etc.) I hope he keeps that up. I actually think next year could be special. |

while the hawks were golfing: stars picked up 5 of 6 pts and the aves are on their way to picking up 4 of 4...
12 in the WC...have jump past 4 teams...they need to pull off a 12 game point streak like the bruins...NOT HAPPENING!

St.Louis & Nashville 4 of 4 too.
Very impressed with Dallas and Colorado especially, Ducks coming on strong.
You are correct, not happening for the Hawks. |

Hey Scott - I'm hearing that they are looking for a D and willing to move a forward for one.
One source said: "Stan apparently has a plan for this year, and more importantly, for beyond. This means he doesn't want to move a draft pick or key prospect unless the returning player fits into future plans." - Justin Lowe
Moving a wing for D? Who? Hartman wont get you much. Not a top 4 guy anyway.
This team is struggling. Wing to D. Until they decide to get after it and play with urgency/purpose it wont matter. |

The Hawks are back from Cabo and practicing tomorrow.
The players, Q and the rest of the coaching staff has had a lot of time offp to think.
The Crawford news came out as well while everyone was away.
Teams in the West are killing it right now (COL just won their 8th game in a row) as the Hawks fall further into the Central cellar.
Soooo.... needless to say, it's going be very interesting tomorrow.
I will have a blog after the skate and post-practice comments.
Cheers!

I misunderstood. Right on.
Hawks can get on a streak, and I think they will. It's going to be tough, but I'm looking for specifically Toews, Saad and Keith to really get rolling here as the Hawks head through the rest of the season. This team has plenty of talent and is capable of getting into the playoffs. It's going to be a tough task, but I don't consider them dead in the water. |

it'd really be nice if they bring full effort as soon as the puck drops Saturday. - matt_ahrens
ummm yeah...after a week off??? they have been their worst after multiple days off...
one look at the standings...playing with 2 goalies with their first regulation NHL in the last months....
my guess is they might say..."who gives a poop"....Q's agent should start checking out the rollodex

I’ve been watching a lot of other teams Power Play lately
Every PK now jams the shooting lanes from the points - 2 players each side blocking shots-
It’s not just Keith that hits shin pads- any team that plays it to the point and Slap shoots from the point is hitting shin pads
Teams that are being successful are wining puck battles and moving the puck down low or using a quick wrist shot from the point to get pucks through
The time it takes to take the slap shot allows time for players to set up and block. |
