Trouba for Barkov straight up would be more like it. Worst case add Petan. Otherwise it's an overpayment. Look what Jersey got for Larson!!!
- sparky1957

Ok, let’s say that happened. Trouba is gone, now what about our D? There is a hole there now, I think? How does the absence of Trouba get covered? Plugging a hole that was your 1/2 Dman (argue about whether he is 1 or 2) is a serious position to fill in one month before the trade deadline.

I’m all for adding AA. Put him with Ehlers, wind them up and let them kill some Dmen.

Jesus Christ. Trouba is more valuable than Barkov.

Trouba shouldn’t even be considered unless you have a young replacement for him coming back. I moved Myers, and put Poolman in. We’d likely improve.

With you again here as well. Put Drouin on Ehlers line and look out. I am just dreaming but it’s fun!

Jumping junipers, what the heck is going on? I am agreeing with Rexy in justt about everything here! Lol

I like Barkov, I was trying to make the point that trading Trouba leaves a big big hole on D.

I am all in on getting another impact center.

I am looking at you Andreas Athanasiou from Detroit. Detroit and him apparently did not get along during contract negotiations and he is rumored to want out of Detroit. I think he would bring a tonne to our team. He can check, he's incredibly fast and I think would look nice playing with Ehlers.

While nice and possible the cost could be manageable why not play Roslovic more down the stretch?

not to Florida, just saying. this is a clear case of the home fan base valuing their player more.

No room for him on the roster when the injured guys get back. We would have to put Dano or Matthias on wavers

Sorry for the double post, stupid iphone. I am going to qualify my statement better about Rexy's post here. If I had to move a starting D, I might be tempted to move Myers after and only after I tried to move Enstrom. But, I don't think any team would want Enstrom so Myers would be a choice but only if we are improving on D. That is a big if. I agree Poolman can step in. I think he has the maturity being that he stayed in College so long and he has been part of the Big Ten college experience so I have no problem playing Tucker Poolman in pressure situations. I also like that ELC and he will be a RFA at the end of the year. I think he will be cost effective next year and beyond for awhile. But, if I had to trade Trouba or Myers in season, it would be Myers.

Lemme add this to my previous point:

Barkov is a mere 22yrs old, 5th yr in the league, 6 foot 3 & 215, produced 50pts+ last 2 yrs already at 40 this yr ... another big Finn - Laine visiting with him now during the break (I've read) ... great with the puck ... all good

BEST OF ALL: he is signed for 4 more seasons after this one - - south of $6M per

You stick him between Laine & Ehlers and you'll get 70 pts outa him and you'll have a centre that can keep up & feed those youngsters !

So - I said RH Dman ... others said 'why Trouba' ... well, if Troubs doesn't wanna stay after next season - pull the pin NOW ... if Byf ain't gonna gear up - free up the $7.6M per in cap ... if it's Meyers, then it's Myers ... take one out and get Poolman in there and develop him ... if Troubs signs long term we'll have around $20M per year cap tied up on the right side of our D ... how much f_cking sense does that make ?

Realities of our D.

left side,
Enstrom should not be offered a new deal. I think Niku will be ready for that spot next year. Chairot is also signed for another year, and the Moose will also have Stanley next year and possibly Samberg. Melchiori also showed in a pinch he can step in and be a shut down D ( he was playing last year when we finished with however many straight wins )

right side,
one D should be traded, as Poolman can play third pair and save us cap space to sign everyone else. I'm hoping its Buff or Myers but that all depends on Trouba signing or not? If Trouba does not sign it's more likely he is traded for a forward. this would mean, the Jets would almost be forced to call a team like Philly or Carolina and offer Kyle Connor straight up for a young RH top 4 potential D like Hanafin. I really like Connor but you have to give to get and he plays are absolutely most stacked position (LW)

Lets be honest Florida is not getting rid of Barkov for Myers or Byfuglien. Barkov is also considered one of the best defensive centres in the league meaning that he would mitigate lots of the scoring chances going the other way.

One question that no one on this board has been able to answer for me is name me the 12 defensemen that Pittsburgh used over the past 2 years to win the cup and then compare that group to the six we are icing now. Even without Trouba we have a superior defensive core to the garbage that the Penguins iced the last two years. And, they were the cup champions!!!!

I’ve posted this before- Flyers would be a good team to trade with. They have lots of LHD and we have a RHD surplus. They are close to a wild card position, so the right trade could put them into the playoffs.

until some of our key forwards have cup rings you have to remember we have no one named Malkin, Crosby or Kessell and they have received top notch goaltending the last two years in the play offs.

So...

Gardiner + Bozak + Carrick + Moore 2018 2nd (salary retained if necessary)

for Trouba + either Matthias OR Hendricks..or whatever 3rd - 4th line center
you can give us.

Leafs top six D corps - Reilly/Trouba -- Zaitsev/Hainsey --- Dermott/Borgman

but we don't need LHD ( Niku, Samberg, Stanley ), We need to add some younger less expensive RHD to our organization!!

2 things:
1: Enstrom won’t be moved. He has an NMC.
2: Enstrom is absolutely extended/re-signed. For a few reasons. There was not 1 player in free agency this year that could’ve adequately replaced his defensive play. He’s still our #4 dman. The organization is fiercely loyal, and they’ll keep him as long as he can play. At the same time, Enstrom wants to be a Jet, and he’ll stay that way even if a pay cut is involved like last time.

let me counter with;

Myers + Little + Melchiori + Mathias + 2018 2nd rounder

for Riely + whatever 3rd or 4th line center you want to give us.

how does the trade look when reversed?

that seems like more than 2 things.........Vegas found 6 D all better than Enstrom so interesting how you seem to think he so irreplaceable. Buff and Enstrom at times look like an absolute tire fire out there.

so last year with you it was postma and dano, this year its enstrom and dano, what are you going to do next year if they are both gone?

You just answered your own question. Kessel was the missing piece of the Stanley Cup teams. Pittsburgh added another high impact forward in Kessel when everyone was talking about their defense.

I say we go all in and get a Barkov. I love that suggestion!
