It's a dump and chase league...JVR isn't chasing anything...we could change Hyman up for sure but I don't think JVR/Nylander on 1 line would be great.

Bab's likes Hyman...he's pretty much as fast as Brown and outweighs him by 25lbs. He hasn't been playing his best, but I think the Leafs will get it going with what they have...win a round or 2 ( hopefully ) and continue to build.

ah but Nylander can gain the zone with control and do his button hook move and pass to Matthews/Reilly while JVR drives the net, or drive wide and low while JVR catches up. That line should never dump and chase, unless holding a lead late in the game.

Doesn't need to be JVR. Just put frikin Marleau with Matthews and Nylander already

Put JVR with Kadri and Marner.

Then a solid checking line with Hyman - The Bozek - Brown

4th line;
Martin - Goat - Komarov.

This way Leo can still kill penalties..

I know it matters not at all, but I don't see any kind of chemistry between Kadri and Marleau, but have seen small flashes with Marleau and Marner.

Marleau did play many years with arguably one of the best passers in the league, he should be familiar with finding the soft spots where he can be ready and able to handle the unexpected dishes from Marner.

I don't think its all doom and gloom. There has actually been progress lately defensively. Having said that, the changes babcock makes do not make sense. 34 line struggles for 2 games, nylander goes to the 4th line. Marner line struggles, 16 goes to the 4th line. You know what, I don't even care about that.

What bothers me is he keeps hes veteran line of marleau kadri and komorov intact even though they have been a pile of garbage. Last night, 34 should of drawn a penalty from edmundson, he gets up full of spite and even attempts a headlock. Then babcock sents out the kadri line to lose a draw. Then after a small break, keeps them out. 34 was 12-4 on the draw at this point and is FARRRR more responsible and stronger than kadri. Just me or is it a good idea to send out your star when he is pissed off?

Leivo, kapenen and dermott play great, then disappear...

Babcock feels its time to break up the line, and sends 29 to the 4th.. not hyman... noooo, why would we take away someone who constantly throws the puck in the corner or behind the net and skates fast after it. doesn't really matter if he fumbles the puck in the slot constantly or fails to get it to 34 or 29 80% of the time when they are wide open.

I'm actually writing this calmly but am starting to get annoyed.. I hope hyman gets a non serious injury lol

I think he didn't start OT vs Blues because he was out for the last minute and was gassed. Matthews likely wouldn't have started either way, but that would have been the valid reason he didn't start OT.

Oh I know that's how he wants them to play. I just disagree and think if you have that skill, you never ever create a 50/50 chance, you hold onto that puck and make the other team get out of position to get it back from you.
