He usually does change them up during a game if their flat...we held a good team to a goal with an extra attacker...funny team the Leafs...no coach is any good. - annoyed
St. Louis was the better team last night. Leafs only goal was a short handed unassisted goal on a turnover and good hustle, Anderson played great. |

He has done that yes, but key word is has. Hasn't done it any time recently, and till reverts to old lines at the beginning of each game. - GuidoDangles
Why would he change up the lines if we're beating a cup contender with very little time left...I get the frustration over the loss but it's 82 games....we'll be fine. ( crosses fingers ) |

Outplayed us in the 1st period...that's was pretty much it and they scored with an extra attacker with a min left. |

Because we ourselves are cup contenders now and for the last 20 or so games we haven't played like one. Good coaches adapt. I'm not saying I know more then babcock, but continuing stubbornness is frustrating to say the least. If your going to have your entire line-up play defense first, at least ice lines that will optimize offence when we have control of the puck.
Also, you have players like kadri who literally have 1 point in the last what.. 17 games? Connor brown that's been still killing it with martin as his most consistent linemate. Why not try swapping brown and komarov? Komarov's advanced stats are awful and he's an anchor beside kadri in the offensive zone. Refusal to try mixing things up is what's the most frustrating to watch. |

We're not cup contenders, our D is far from being cup contenders...those team all have legit #1 guys and pretty good top 4.
We have Rielly....with structure we can win games but......
IMO

I get it, but when you have rookies like dermott/ borgman who are consistently outplaying Polak and instead getting rotated in/out of lineup, how are we helping ourselves |

LOL. Guess the South would rather get blown to poop by the North than the US.

1st period sure they were the better team, after that it was pretty even.
High Danger chances Leafs +1 in period 2 and the Blues +1 in period 3
I thought after the 1st period the teams looked pretty even....and we could have had a couple calls go our way if the refs were wearing their glasses.
They're a pretty good team too...not sure why everyone thinks in year 2 we are a contender all of a sudden.

I'd like to see all the forwards stats who play shutdown like Kadri/Marleau/Leo...they play the roll to allow Matthews/Bozak line freedom.
Go Leafs Go.
I'm out...I know my opinion stinks, I'll try to have a better one tomorrow. |

Tarasanko had 2 shots, I'd say that line wasn't too bad. But I agree...especially after 2 whistles (in the last min ) I would have thrown Matthews/Hyman/Brown out there. I had already counted the 2 points at the 1 min mark....my fault guys..I blew it. - annoyed
thats why shot attempts gives you a better idea of how the play went over how shots do.
Kadri line was 35% cf%
which is dreadful

yeah. I just don't know what direction the team should go in.
i like the idea of trying for a little run in the playoffs. The players should expect to win and they should feel supported by management; which to me means we should be buyers.
i also feel like if we lose komarov/bozak and jvr for nothing and end up being out in 1 round, it'll be kind of a waste too.
not easy.

Funny how people are blaming Babcock
Komarov, Polak, Hyman all played pretty good last night.
Marner was brutal, he costed us the game. The players who are getting paid or will be getting paid the big bucks did not produce last night. Matthews included |

I am starting to think we should have spent our 6.25m on a top pair dman, instead of a 2nd/3rd line LW |

Imo.
The Leafs should try a run at the cup.
They are a competitive team in the East and have as much chance as any to make it far.
Besides, any team that would be interested in JVR, Komarov or Bozak would also be a contender.... which means what you're likely getting back are picks and prospects... imo Toronto has plenty of young players already and would benefit more from established players in the roster (especially on defense).
It might be stupid from an asset management point of view but I think it's the way to go for them.
Because I'm stupid. |
