Yes it's still playoff experience..Problem is many look at team and think they can win a cup with current group..With that D it's Not happening....

They have a small chance to beat Boston but they're (frank)ed against Tampa Bay. They still have a long road ahead. But they have a great group of guys to start with for the first time in forever which is great.

U dont have to get a D for JVR as many teams cant have his next contract but u can use his return in another deal..

Unless you move him to a team that actually can keep him long term, like Calgary. That's why I was thinking Bennett and Stone make sense. Bennett takes his spot on the LW, can play C too and Stone is a RHD, a little overpaid but replaces Polak which is addition by subtraction. It's still not the perfect fix on D but it's a start.

Or get a 21 year old who can play in the NHL right now, still have plenty of talent and potential and get lucky?

Like I said yesterday, the Leafs traded Steen at a time when he had 2 goals and 4 points in 20 games and thought he was a bust. Just because a player is struggling in his early 20s, doesn't mean he's a useless bust if you can identify his skill level doesn't reflect his numbers.

1st round exit at the hands of the Boston Bruins, with or without JVR, Bozak and Komarov, still gives the important young guys experience. If anything, it gives them more ice time and more opportunity to learn.

The Leafs will not be a Cup contender for another 5 years, but don’t trade Gardiner for assets that will be more useful 5 years from now and definitely don’t play Dermott so he can gain experience for those 5 years. Because reasons.
