If you can show me where I said they cant bench Shatty that would be great.

And seeing as there are 12 forwards and only 6 defenseman and Shatty is better than 3 of them it probably wouldn't be smart.

Defensively I think he’s the worst on the team. When you take into account his offensive contributions he’s probably 3/4. But when he’s not producing offensively (27 games 0 goals 6 assists) he’s pretty useless.

So if we are going by your standard, Buch with only 3 gs in his last 26 games should be benched even longer? I mean he is forward and is supposed to score. So we should probably trade him right.

I'm not sure how anyone could put a black and white standard on any player never mind different positions.

3 G 8 assists his last 26. Not great by any means but he hasn't been a ghost. He's also a 22 year old kid that's in his 2nd season. I'm willing to be a lot more patient with him than some others. Even with his slump he's 3rd on the team in points.

It's not, Shattenkirk hasn't been good for a while now and he's not some defensive stalwart that is contributing in other areas. If he's not producing offensively he's not very useful to the team, Tommy F'ing Wingles beat him 1on1 for crying out loud.

You realize Shatty is first on the team with goals for a defenseman and 2nd to McDonagh in assits, but 1st in overall points. Sixth on the entire team in points. So you want to sit our most productive defenseman.

You see how that works. You use Buch's points for being 2nd on the team, but you hate Shattenkirk even though he leads the defenseman in points. Bit of a double standard?

I wanted to sign him. For about a year before we did. However, I did not want the rest of the group to simultaneously SUCK at defense.
9479 likes to remind us how we said that Shatty would play with McD. But, the gist of that was that McD would make up for Shatty's defensive lapses. No one foresaw our current situation where Mac couldn't play the defensive side of the game.

Mac has been brutal this year

the worst thing that could happen in the next month is them clinging to a WC spot by winning some and losing some, they need to head one way or another cause if they miss the deadline AND miss the playoffs they will be (frank)ed...

Personally, my ideal situation would be this -- they see where they are around the deadline, and even if they are hanging onto a playoff spot by a thread, they judiciously sell to look toward the future if they don't think they have a real shot at the Cup. What does that mean? You sell off a couple of rentals for picks, and still try to make the playoffs with what remains. If you don't, you don't. Trading one or two rentals doesn't mean they have no shot at playoff hockey. It hurts their chances, but they can still compete.

Or they trade all the Rentals and some of Mcdonagh, Zuccarrelo, Hayes and Miller. Thus leading to a complete rebuild.
