He is now 2nd on the team in scoring and has been 3rd for a while, yet somehow he is the one that gets benched or given fewer minutes at times. Can't win if you don't play your most productive players.

Nope. Go look what I said about Hayes when he was in a slump and got benched and in the playoffs last year. He (frank)ing sucked.

Pretty impressive. My dog hits ice and he looks like one of those stones in curling.

probably

"Buch nice assist, go grab some popcorn"
AV

- mrn22

Or, was it the trip to the pressbox that made the nice assist come about????

Mind blown.

You are the curling guy, right Tony?

The proper name given to curling stones by the ancient Mayans is "slidey doo-dad"

interesting from brooks' article this morning re: andersson -

A caveat here. The Post has learned that management is weighing sending Andersson to the Wolf Pack once the center completes rehab on the shoulder he injured captaining Sweden to the silver medal in the World Juniors. If the center proves capable, he likely would be in New York playing for the Rangers, rather than back in Gothenburg playing for Frolunda, by the Feb. 26 trade deadline.

I wouldn't say I'm "the curling guy" per se, as I haven't played in about 25 years. But, since I am Canadian I am somewhat familiar with it! And yeah, you got it right. It was just that the uncertainty of your statement oozed through the screen.
I think it's only a matter of time until I play again. Some friends have played in a co-ed rec league the last couple winters. They say its a blast. You hang out for a few hours, drink while you play, and the game is actually quite difficult to master, so everyone has fun laughing at each others futility.

I just wouldn't want to be one of the sweeper people. That looks kind of boring. I want to be the guy launching stones down the ice at warp speed.

The first time I played I was about 14. My dad needed my brother and I to fill in for his inter-Legion Saturday morning league. My 1st throw sailed right down and through the house (the coloured rings) at "warp speed". My next 3 stopped halfway down the ice! After that, I kept turning the handle the wrong way (making it curl the opposite direction of what they were asking for). I think the old guys were getting a little frustrated.
My brother was heavy into weight-lifting at the time. He kept picking up the rocks (or stones) and carrying them around (~45lbs). The old guys were like, "Woah! Relax Hercules. Just kick them around!!"

I mean there is obviously some decent skill involved. Kind of reminds me of winter shuffleboard.

Kid and I look forward to that during the Olympics, it's so mesmerizing.

How did your buddy's daughter make out?
