Nothing to do with fatigue, just want him out of the net for a couple games. He just hasn't been as sharp his last few starts.
- BiggE

While I agree, about that maybe there isn't physical fatigue due to the break, Elliott is on pace to start 67 games. His previous career high was 55...10 years ago. Hakstol manages the goalies, like an NCAA program, where you only play on weekends.

A lot.
Veterans making untimely and repeated errors
Veterans taking dumb penalties
Rookies making rookie mistakes
Suboptimal roster
Injuries in Allentown preventing call-ups
Untimely sub-par goaltending

And a quick look at the standings will show us all that having "league leading scorers" means bupkis right about now.

And I apologize if "narrative" upset you. My point is I think it's too easy to simply say that "dead weight" is the problem. Sure, there are some players on the roster who maybe we'd rather not be there, but there are a host of other issues, most of which, imho, are more damaging than a few weak players on the roster.

- Scoob

Not upset, just confused...and that was my first career encounter with the word bupkis lol

They're more damaging because they're the only option for this team. On good (or better) teams you don't have 4 or 5 players carrying the entire team. Good players make mistakes, rookies make mistakes, injuries happen. If the bottom of the roster wasn't crap all that wouldn't be so obvious.

I just don't have the stomach to watch a team that voluntarily plays Jori Lehtera and Brandon Manning at the same time on their second powerplay unit in 2018. Or one that is attempting to give Brian Elliott 60+ starts as a 32 year old. These are obvious mistakes that are easily avoidable.

First drills with defense pairs it appears Manning and Gudas are still in.

Time for Hextall to send Sanheim to the AHL.

No adjustments to the line up after last night's performance is pretty foolish by Hakstol.

I left the house 4 hours before game time. After a train ride and dinner I was pleased by the initial Gudas goal, even though my polite applause outed me to my MSG neighbors as a Flyers fan. I arrived home discouraged 2 hours after game end. Back in the Lindros years MSG was nearly a guaranteed win. It doesn't feel like it's been that way for years now, though. It may be time to stop torturing myself.

it is.

i came to this conclusion with attending games at the meadowlands years ago, when i was still back east, and left early (the first and only time i've ever done this) after the 2nd period when they were down 4 or 5-0. this was 2002-03. most games were of the 1 or 2 goal loss variety, including a game winner that was scored as a result of the flyers scoring in their own empty net on a delayed penalty. i would burn that place to the ground if i could.

Eventhough we're a playoff bubble team right now, we very rarely get our butts kicked to this degree. Maybe one or two other games this year we've caught a whooping like that. It was surprising.

I thought the team played great the first 15 minutes. It was an extremely fast game, hardly any whistles, and then that Giroux-Laughton shorthanded missed attempt and they folded up like lawn chairs. Let's regroup and come out swinging against Toronto.

Classic Flyers drubbing. Voracek was abysmal and apparently contagious because everyone else played bad. When the top players struggle, it seems like everyone else does as well. No "next guy up" mentality. Or probably can't contribute through lack of skill.

I'd also like to change my "prospect I'm most forward to seeing "from Rubstov to Carter Hart.

I know Elliot has played a lot and we'll at times, but dear God he has too many of these 3,4,5 goal games.

Last night I'll give him a some slack. 3 breakaway and a redirect.

We will see against the Maple Loafs if we have grown as a club or are fragile showing up playing another clunker. Good teams need short memories.

A smart team would have given Neuvirth the start last night.

I hate to say it but I expect a Clunker Thursday with the pregame ceremony. I'm thinking Saturday is when we may see the bounce back.

This team needs to trade Shutdown Seanie and a few consecutive 1sts for Shea Weber.

Definitely food for thought...with a guy like Sanheim sitting who might/maybe/possibly improve PP2.
It seems at times our coach waits a bit too long to pull trigger on lineup moves, similar to putting a door/lock on the barn after all the animals get out.

I don't think that Rubstov is going to jump ahead of Vorbyov or even Frost(er) Brooks.

Having seen less than 10 games of all of them combined (I'm assuming you mean Mikhail Vorobyev and Morgan Frost), I can't say where any of them will be in relation to each other at season's end. However, from what I hear, Rubstov is having a decent year, but there could be more. Frost is obviously on a fantastic run, and Vorobyov is having a so-so AHL rookie year.

It's partly coaching, but Hextall should have put Lehtera in the AHL a while ago.

I'll be happy to admit I was wrong if Hextall actually manages to trade him for an asset in the next 6 weeks.

Would they have to call someone like Read up to do that? Isn't there a veteran maximum for the AHL? Just curious.

A slew of factors in the lead up for Philadelphia @ MSG.

The Flyers haven't done well in MSG for quite some time now.
Rangers had a team meeting following their loss to the Pens on Sunday.
Lundqvist was up for a milestone record.
Shattenkirk, the Rangers big FA signing has not lived up to his billing and had a one-on-one sit down with Alain Vigneault.

All that still doesn't excuse the way the Flyers played. They were picked apart in the neutral zone. A game like that the Flyers have to hunker down and WORK. Soft cross dumps and pound their defenseman. McDonough played through back spasms. Pressuring him could have been an effective strategy. More body checks throughout their game plan should have been implemented. More north south, less pass-first mentality which has afflicted the whole team save Courturier. Elliot did not look good. It's time to play Neuvirth a bit more.

There is in the lineup, but I don't believe there is a max on the roster (besides the number required for the lineup)

I saw they were offering this game in basically every ticket package they've sold. Do they still have single game tickets or did you buy secondary
