What is everyones thoughts on the Granderson signing?

looks like a solid depth move, he reliable and should be able to replace Bautistas output + more hopefully.

This team is still short on a talent though. More moves need to be done if they think they could be even close to a contender.....

NHL.com... Go to the Leafs and click on Dermott... He is #23. Seems easy enough to find.
- bixll

He was wearing #3. His new number is 23

Oh, it's a terrible signing and doesn't address any specific need.. Atkins said that this team needs to get younger and faster.. Signing a 37 yr old, does not address either of those needs. The Jays need some pitching help and still haven't addressed that yet.

The Jays did not need a 4th outfielder/sometimes DH.

At least they signed a guy who hits for a good average.

Jays will never do anything with this management.

He'd have the 5th best average for our batters.

the only way signing Granderson would work, is if he has a career year at 37, and then he gets traded at the deadline for a half-decent prospect

Not OEL, Seth Jones. Why else would they take #3 from Dermott.
- Banditt

the memories of the person who whore #3 last are to fresh in their minds.
they think of the previous player and not the current one.

Because the leafs are acquiring Brent Seabrook from hawks while CHI retains 50% salary. Seabrook’s number is number 3 hence dermott making room for him. Why do you think dermott took 23 because it’s OEL number? NOT. you give up your number for someone else who is more worthy. JVR gave up number 21 (borje salming) as it was to be retired in honour of BJ SALMING Kapisch??!

If the Leafs are lacking centres, then what the f*** should the Habs say??

Also, I thought Nylander and Marner were centres...(currently used on the wing)

I was going to say call up Peter Holland but he's a Ranger now.

the ufa market for centers will be pretty thin...unless you're looking for a 4C.

and babcock pretty much said the other day he'd likes the idea of having extra centers to play on the wing.

- Tumbleweed

The UFA center market is the strongest it's been in years

Tavares
Thornton
Stastny
Backlund

All top 6 centers

Bozak
Eller
Sedin

Some good 2/3 centers

Plekanic
Fillpula
Stajan

Solid 3/4 C's

Following a year where Bonino and Thornton were the only notable C's available it's pretty good
