I have to assume that this is done because Schneider will only be out for a day or two, so no need for IR and Santini was sent down because he can be without waivers while Appleby is up as insurance

The only thing I could possibly think we are looking to send them is Kinkaid. Blackwood is likely to be the NHL backup soon, Appleby is there and I think Cormier is AHL eligible next year. Even losing Wedgewood goalie is pretty crowded.

eh, maybe. I don't think Islanders goaltending is as bad as it seems. Their defense is just putrid and makes them look awful. We don't have any defense surplus so I don't see how it would make much sense really.
