How much NHL experience does Hutch have?

At this point, what's the point of making a trade for Hutch? I feel like you end up just losing pieces. Why not just roll with Forsberg/Glass and keep the roster in tact?

- Hank3Henshaw

There isn't, but if the trade was say Pokka for Hutch it might not be too bad. Of course this is all assuming Stan wants to make a move with the goaltending (hopefully he doesn't).

Why bother? I don't see him or any of the other realistic trade options as much of an upgrade.

I'm ok with Stan trading away the likes of Kempny, Bouma, Wingels etc, but he should get some long-term assets in return (i.e. picks or prospects).

I totally agree.

Why do people want to trade good pieces for fill-in goalies, when they can just roll with Forsberg/Glass?

Makes no sense to basically give players away at this point.

It sucks that CC might be out long term. I think that goaltending can be a huge equalizer when it comes to gaining points in the standings. I like to think the team will come out stronger if they feel less comfortable with who is in net, because they have to dig a little deeper to get the W.

Short term, the Hawks have an uphill battle. They seem to have been 5-4-1 in their last 10 games forever as they yo-yo up and down treading water but not gaining ground. They are in the pack where the margin separating them from 90% of the other teams is thin. The Hawks had a lot of change and a lot of new faces, but they've played more than 50% of the season now.

Line 1 needs to get a bit more consistent in terms of production.

Line 2 needs to find a way to prevent goals against. People have their head in the sand if they ignore how easily teams score against the Hawks 2nd line at even strength. The line is good at generating goals, but what good is it when you give up just as many (if not more) against when they are on the ice?

Line 3 has been pretty solid lately after being a big problem early in the season. A little more consistency and they could be the difference makers on a lot of nights.

line 4 meh. This is not the best 4th line the Hawks have had. Not the worst, but they are pretty average in my books. They don't play the minutes that make or break you and not much happens when they are on the ice in general. Would love to see the 4th line find a way to cycle and protect the puck 200 feet away from their net more.

Here is a look at goals for and goals against per 60 minutes of ice time for the team this season. While it doesn't mean everything it is far from meaningless over the course of 30-40 games.

Here is a look at the same over the last 30 days.

I have no idea what makes you think Ulf’s defensive approach is to “pinch and penetrate wildly”, it’s primarily to get the puck out of the Dzone and going back the other way as quickly as possible. It doesn’t require forwards to constantly be Dmen, it does however require them to get back to the Dzone quickly so Dmen can make quick short outlet passes.

The Hawks constantly give up odd-man breaks because D-Men are constantly getting caught too far up-ice. Over-aggression is not a winning approach, it is a stupid approach. Opposing players find themselves free behind the Hawks’ D-Men with one short pass or a short banking shot off the boards. I am not talking about getting out of the D-Zone I am talking about constantly playing over-aggressively up-ice. This is a new development - Q’s D-Men chipped in offensively and took chances when it made sense. Now it is a dedicated approach under Dirty Ulf. Seabrook suddenly is deep in the O-Zone constantly after getting sat out? Figure it out. Murphy got beat recently at the opposing blue-line - for no reason he was 10 feet deep. If he is actually at the blue-line, where he should be, he doesn’t get beat.

If the Hawks actually make the play-offs watch this idiotic approach disappear completely with the D-Men playing D-first hockey. Ulf is an idiot - he only played in the NHL because he was the dirtiest player ever to play. He didn’t play with skill - he played to injure, to end careers. He was also a complete COWARD. When Domi layed him out everyone celebrated it - still do. Why the Hawks ever hired this putz is beyond me.

No, for real. What are people speculating?
- Hank3Henshaw

Hank ,all kind of bull crap out there, I think it was just A collision in the goal crease,If the Blackhawks were in front of the division by 15 points none of this would be an issue.

Don't waste your time. Guy clearly just hates Ulf Samuelsson form his playing days.
