So if CC is done for the year, do we cross our fingers and hope Glass and Forsberg can hold the fort? This is a huge loss. CC helped cover up alot of the team D issues with his continual standing on his head in net. Or do you spend the new found cap space and try and land another D?

And if they target another goaltender, who?

I said a bit earlier that it's on the five guys in front of whoever is in the blue paint.

Glass and Forsberg are serviceable and played well in my opinion.

It'd be nice if the other guys tightened up their game, played better defense and, you know, found the back of the net...

Agree on Forsberg, not so sure about Glass. I’d let it ride but give Forsberg 90% of the work load.

It's a move for a maverick GM.

OR they could take a season of playoffs "off"
LA and Pit both did it...
Tank, grab a top 5 draft pick (and rest their stars, Seabrook, Toews, Kane, Crow, Keith etc)
Everyone recover, Seabrook drop 15 lbs
the young lings get experience and/or strength (DBC, Schmaltz, Forsling etc)
And come back well rested to win it in 2019

I think he's all good, man. He looked more solid/confident in the Jets game. That was a great level of play and compete he displayed.

But, I think the bottom line is that both guys can play and that then need the dudes around them to elevate their game.

Glass is a good story, but a below-average to average goaltender. It's in the Hawks best interest to see what Forsberg can do. If he's the goalie of the future why not see what he can do. I don't expect Forsberg to instantly replace Crawford, just that he plays well and continues to grow and get better.

Good points.

I think Glass gets time because the team seems to react different when he's in net. There's a different emotional spark there from them when he's in net--disregard Sunday's Wings game--no one played good. Haha.

Raanta. Why?
cheap
expiring contract
playing for a seller

Raanta gave that bitter interview about Hawks after his trade to NY.

Not a horrible idea.
However, I would expect ONLY the bolded player above to come back and be noticeably improved. Regardless of anything else, this guy is serious about his craft and serious about making improvements in his game season-to-season.

As for #7 dropping 15lbs . . . well, that is really dreaming.
Unless of course he gets ONNIT like a few of his buds.
Then we can expect him to fall even more than we see now.

I don't know what it would cost but would Raanta really be worth the assets? I don't see Raanta as any better than Forsberg.

I said this before a few blogs ago, if the Hawks insist on getting another goalies I'd try Hutchison from the Jets. He's in the AHL right now and could be a better back-up than Glass. My preference would be to keep the assets and go with Forsberg and Glass, but if the Hawks decide to make a move...

Give forsberg the net and see what the hawks have if crow is out for the season. More likely the hawks are going to miss the playoffs. Then ttyea try and get a top 5 pick rest the core and see what happens next year. As for the TDL shop kieth AA Bouma wiggles hartman. And see what the hawks can get continue with getting younger and faster but i still think the hawks should extend wiggles and add more big body's that can forecheck and create hell in opposing teams o zone. Unfortunately bowman will be back for one more year so hopefully he doesn't screw things up like this pass offseason.

the 5 games post break: isles, bolts, leafs, wings preds will dictate next steps...

they need to get wins...they spit the bit in those and get less that 5 pts...they may be done...

no big moves, shut down craw and go with what you got...

if they get 8 plus pts...well maybe you consider getting a starting goalie like anderson or some other moves to go for the playoffs

Right...
Welllllll they went without Crosby for a year or two which isn't really making the playoffs as a serious contender.

Kane is truly following the footsteps of Walter Payton and Michael Jordan in that regard.
Here's hoping again this offseason is able to bring teammates to the improvement clinics he participates in.

If CC goes on LTIR, how about seeing if Halak has anything left? Expiring contract. Maybe Kempny for Halak (salary retained)?

There’s a huge difference between the two IMO, but it doesn’t matter because the Yotes are using him as their starter and he’s not going anywhere.

I agree, Hutch might not be a bad low cost alternative to Glass.

How much NHL experience does Hutch have?

At this point, what's the point of making a trade for Hutch? I feel like you end up just losing pieces. Why not just roll with Forsberg/Glass and keep the roster in tact?

Why bother? I don't see him or any of the other realistic trade options as much of an upgrade.

I'm ok with Stan trading away the likes of Kempny, Bouma, Wingels etc, but he should get some long-term assets in return (i.e. picks or prospects).
