i'd pass on martin. not sure what's going on, but at his age he might not bounce back; last year wasn't a good year for him.

i'm starting to get on the severson train.

If SJ retaines salary to 3 million I wouldn't mind. As long as he can be healthy enough which will be known after a few games in the A

As for Severson I don't know why he would be available....Lou isn't going to go out and trade for someone who isn't available. Unless you want a Hall for Larson trade

max they could retain is $2.4.

i was thinking something like fehr for martin ($2.4M retained) could work.

with severson getting benched, he could be available? just speculating.

Yeah I meant to 3mil per year.

And yep, salary would work out. But like I said I haven't watched Martin since he was on the Pens so I really don't know much about him

And possibly, but players get benched all the time. He's 23, and with NJ starting to contend they would want a star back.

He's been declining rapidly lately. He's bad this year.

Just found it funny when the guy was injured and then read statements like the above...

Played 2 games in Oct and 1 in Dec.

He's been a healthy scratch the last 7 games.

I don't think we're trading for washed up players... It's not the JFJ era anymore.

The waiver wire is where other people throw out their garbage.

Leafs Nation really needs to quit looking there for defensive help.

Although at four minutes to noon, I should probably watch what I say about him - under the remote chance we pick him up.

Exactly, this team does not need someone to fill the 6,7,8 spot on defense..

Bring back Zeitsev.

Hope Dermott progresses to a 2nd pairing guy.

I feel like unless some trade for a top 4 guy falls into our laps, the two moves above are enough for this year.

We've made some good progress. Let's not throw it away taking a shot this year - because it isn't happening.

Hell, I doubt we beat Boston in the first round.

Yeah, sorry.

Well it's his cap hit that sucks....if the sharks retain he's easily worth something

I think you are the one that needs to learn how the this works.

He's at 5 million. That's a bad cap hit for any d man who isn't a top 3. The Sharks are sending him through waivers to see if there are any takers. Now, they will let him play a few games in the AHL to show teams he isn't injured anymore, then the Sharks will explore trades where they retain salary.

The leafs don't have unlimited time to win the cup.........this is the first year they have a chance. Trading some mid picks, maybe even a 2nd is common practice for teams with even a slim shot.

They would be stupid not to improve their chances at bit.

It's pretty hillarious, you guys say no one is beating TB, yet every single year there is a team that "can't be beat" and they are out by the 2nd round.

It's the playoffs, they play the games for a reason
