Hedman mixed with a little Karlson

Bodqvist is Karlson

- Pres.cup

Like I said earlier, I don't see the physicality in Dahlin's game anywhere near Hedman. Hedman's reach and power are just ridiculous. I don't think anyone in the show is as strong, chara 3-4 years ago was for sure.

How about boeser and barzal are both good players. Both have small sample sizes. Both play on different teams with different team mates. Both have played different number of games. Boeser has a way better shot. Barzal way better skater. There is 38 games left. Let them race it out. Arguement over?

Im convinced Dahlin will be in the top 5 best d men in the league in 3 years. I honestly think he will be a absolute stud for whatever team gets him. Hard to make an NHL comparison but he transitions the puck as good aa i have seen

I can get on board with that, he looks like the real deal. I'm looking forward to him being in the league for sure, tkachuk, Zadina and svechnikov I do think this will be a great draft pick for us but could be a franchise changer if we land Dahiln.

Mid-season winner is Boeser. Tougher competition and lesser linemates. Argument over

No. Whip it out and grab the measuring stick. Daddy wants to argue over trivial crap.

I'm going to make this easy for you. When NYI face TB, is Hedman's assignment JT or Barzal?

I'm going to make it even easier for you. I don't care who's better or who wins the Calder. At all.

yea eberle is good ladd eh but its good that we can debate having a calder hopeful means good things for both teams and we arent really competitors being in different conferences so I have no ill will against boeser
- Upstate_isles

It goes a bit beyond playing with Eberle and Ladd you have pretty solid D and goaltending there too...which helps. And I'm sure Barzal's PP time hasn't hurt either.

Not entering the "who's better debate" at all, but the bolded statement is patently false. The Islanders defense and goaltending is an absolute tire-fire.

Seriously, have a look at the Canucks back end and goali....err two tall guys that stand in front of the net and can't stop the puck.

Islanders are Cup quality defense and goaltender compared with Vancouver...

fair enough as I don't follow the east all that much but you guys are sitting pretty good in 19th spot in the hunt for playoffs...surely it can't be that bad?

Yeah I agree, the Calder isnt that big of a deal for me either.

It's just something a player's agent can use in his contract demands.
I'd like to get Boeser as cheap as possible on his next contract.

Probably Hedman or Doughty. Who IMO are the two best in the NHL.
- neem55

Doughty wasnt even 1st over all though.

Honest question.. is he the best defense prospect ever? When was the last time a defensemen got this type of hype or looked this good?

I still dont think most fans put him in the Mathews or McDavid category and to me he is there. If there is ever a year for a tank job this is it.

- mauryballstein

the draft lottery has other plans for teams thinking like that

Well they are dead-last in GA/gp, that should just about tell you everything you need to know.

http://www.nhl.com/stats/...&sort=goalsAgainstPerGame

Seriously though, they are facing some injuries (de Haan gone for the year and Boychuk has been out for awhile and not seemingly close to being back) but they weren't very good prior to those injuries. The defense basically consists of Nick Leddy + 5 AHL-caliber defensemen. Halak has played better of late, but both goaltenders were terrible for a very long stretch.

I just don't care about any individual awards. I don't care if Tavares wins the Hart, Barzal the Calder, Leddy the Norris, etc... They're nice and all, but it doesn't really mean anything to me.

Boeser is seemingly a great player (I don't stay up late enough to watch enough Canucks games, but he's on my fantasy squad so I do follow him somewhat intently) and that's awesome. I love Barzal. Everyone wins.

I might be more inclined to debate/argue if Boeser was on a Metro rival, but I'm pretty neutral on the Canucks so I really have no need to.

Barzal with 3 five point games deserves credit too. I just think arguing who is better is pointless. Let the kids do what they do and see how it ends up after the season is done.

Not flashy, doesn't produce much offense. He's a good second pairing guy. Usually pretty steady and mostly goes unnoticed (for good reasons). Blocks a lot of shots, too.

He'll almost definitely go to UFA this year, unless Tavares walks. Whoever signs him will probably overpay for what he is and fans will resent him for it and say he stinks, but he's a good player. He'd make any blueline much deeper, but he's not a game-changing talent.
