Right, but we're all aware of Buffaluck. We are in a position of strength now, we might not be in a month. If GMJB is receiving fair to above fair offers now, he should seriously consider pulling the trigger. What he's asking for is greedy on an absurd level, but if he gets it, he's a frigging genius. But, I feel that presently he might be playing with fire.
- sskkoo1

I said a few days ago that a deal for Kane may vary, now if we get an NHL ready young players obviuosly the rest of the deal won't be as strong. If he gets picks and prospects it will change the deal as well. Many factors will go into play including other players he moves and what he gets in those deals can also impact a Kane trade. The Kane trade can also impact other deals as well. That's why you can't rush and worry about what other teams are doing.

I think we can move Lehner and Reinhart to the list of assets for sale. They might not have the UFA tag, but I'd bet they're up for grabs.

Not a lot of interest in Lehner.

If he gets that much he should be the GM of the year

But I highly doubt he gets that much

- GERBE!!!75PTS

Of course he wont.

Always ask for more than you are going to get. its like buying a house. Never go in at full price at first.

Simple business 101. He knows he is going to get low ball offers, so if he only asks for a first round pick, he gets third round pick offers.

JVR, Bozak, Komarov, Polak...

This isn't rushing the rebuild like what Murray tried to do, this is rushing a few weeks a head to make sure we get a good return for our UFAs. If kane can bring back a 1st, a prospect, and a 3rd, why wait? If the Leafs start to lose and JVR goes up for grabs, he becomes the most coveted UFA for sale and Kane's value goes down.

Right now the Leafs are willing to let all of their UFAs walk for nothing given that they believe they'll be having a playoff run. If those playoff expectations evaporate in the next few weeks, bet your bottom dollar they'll be selling these guys and it becomes more of a buyers market than a sellers.

- sskkoo1

Not exactly IMO.
If one of those teams arms themselves with JVR rather than Kane, it puts additional pressure on the remaining teams to arm themselves as well just to presumptively “stay even” with said team.
An arms race with limited arms and multiple suitors actually drives the price tag higher.

What housing market have you been around lately? Certainly not Erie County.

Ya exactly.

“simple economics 101” is first understanding the impact the law of supply and demand has on price. In periods of high demand, bottom feeders find themselves out in the cold with their offer under price strategy, in most cases.

I think it's time for Botts/Housley to put a new coat of paint in the house to drive up prices:

Kane-Eichel-Okposo

Kane is slumping a bit without Eichel

Leafs are 4pts from being out of a playoff spot. If they take any key injuries and start to falter, they can own the UFA sellers market. I hope GMGB sells sooner than later.
- sskkoo1

This is wrong. The Leafs are 11 points ahead of Detroit for the 3rd spot in the Atlantic division. In fact, the Atlantic is almost done in terms of the order - Tampa 1st, Boston 2nd and Leafs 3rd. Of course, the Bruins/Leafs might swap positions between now and April

Also this:

Saros was marvelous again, compiling a 43-save shutout and a highlight reel brimming with acrobatic stops. He has a 5-0-3 record in his past nine appearances (which includes one perfect relief outing) with a 1.53 goals-against average, .956 save percentage and three shutouts

We somehow lost the Gaustad + 4th for a first round pick

unbelievable

I’d pay the man based on his play, buy obviously depending on his demands.
What is he asking for?

Buffalo has brought up Casey Nelson from Rochester.

Nelson joined the Sabres for practice on Wednesday because Nathan Beaulieu is out with an illness. He has posted 11 points and a plus-11 rating in 37 games with the Americans this season.

Can they afford Kane ? the Pens would like Kane as well but don't think they can afford him, plus Botterill likes Maatta and Sprong, not sure how serious the Sprong one is though.
