Read the Athletic, they actually watch marlies games and break them down and don't base players off of HockeyDB.

Nielson has really struggled defensively a lot since he's been on the Marlies. Offense has dipped this year.

- Santo_44

You mean the article that literally calls him "Leafs gifted top prospect"?

There is a reason why these prospects are all with the Marlies. Dermott is undersized and not very strong, Nielsen has to work on his defense, Liljegren has to get use to the North American style and so on. They all have something to work on. But Nielsen wasn't -30. He was +7. It doesn't tell the whole story but his size, big shot and overall skills and tools make him more valuable than a sack of poop like Gudbranson.

Probably.

Athletic is worth the price of admission

Yup, I like the report cards after each game. Read up on lots of other teams I usually wouldn’t too

That's besides the point because they're both more valuable than Gudbranson, which was the original point.

Neilsen has serous troubles in defensive zone. Dermott is really good in both zones, not even close comparing to Andrew. Watched a lot of Marlies games last two years.

Marcinin for Gudbranson would be a lateral move except Gudbranson is right handed.

14 goals, 39 points, running the PP as a rookie and NHL size, all aspects that Dermott didn't come close to comparing to with Nielsen. Both have positives and negatives, both are top prospects and shouldn't be traded.

Sure they have to keep both. Neilsen is "work in progress", he might be very good later considering his physical abilities.
Dermott is older and NHL ready.

Dermott is not older. He's actually a month younger. And he's "NHL ready" in the sense that his game is lower risk and he's been playing better recently but Nielsen could have the higher ceiling if he fixes the holes in his game.

Another one is Rinat Valiev, who improved drastically after the injure rehub. A lot of praise from Keefe and he is a big kid too. This is his contract year though, hopefully the Leafs have something in him.

Gudbranson plays for the Canucks. He's AHL quality too.

He'd be behind Dermott, Nielsen and Liljegren but definitely good to see the Leafs having more stability in their prospect pool that before.

The D looked really good in Marlies this season with Dermott and Liljegren as the first paring. Maricin was not out of place there. Rosen is soft and have some problems to adopt to a smaller rink, but he might be alright as time is progressing.
My question is if Miro Altonen can crack the roster and be 3rd line centre in near future. He is improving pretty fast.
