Need to upgrade Gardiner. No way we spend that much on him to play him 3rd pairing. Just not worth it and we can upgrade on him I think. Likely not happening this year unless Lou pulls off some sorta major move but thinking long term don't think he is here at all. |

I'm not even seriously designing the lineup, it was just the Doughty part mainly. |

Meh on Doughty but then am the same with Karlsson too. Think we can put together an overall better defence without them. |

They went from a total joke and a travesty for years, to dead last place, to the playoffs, to now they are solidly on track for playoffs two years in a row and people are bleating about they don't like Babcock's answers in press conferences and the lineup should be this, it should be that waa waa lol...same kind of jagoffs who wanted to be Frankie Corrado's agent before he flunked out of the league...bunch of regular laptop Scotty Bowmans.... - Zezel
why because nobody can have a different opinion then you? a regular know it all wannabe..... |

I'll bet it will be Gudranson coming to the Leafs for Andrew Neilsen and a low pick unless the bidding is high. Then the Leafs may dangle the xtra 2nd as well - Falon
(frank) Lou if he makes that trade. Absolutely no justifiable reason to trade one of our top D prospects (best on the Marlies last year) for Gudbranson. Gudbranson is a younger, bigger version of Polak. Not worth it at all. |

I think he's going for depth across the lines, like Pittsburgh did with Crosby, Malkin, Kessel. I think the idea that if he changed the line combos that the Leafs would be as good as Tampa is unrealistic. It's a function of experience more than anything. - Zezel
That really only works if you have a Crosby and a Malkin. Nobody, including Matthews, is on that level. If the Leafs win something, it won't be because one guy did everything and everyone else was just there for the ride.
Babcock is great for accountability and teaching the young players, who are basically forced to listen to his every word, how to play the game the right way. That being said, his song and dance got old in Detroit. Zetterberg said it himself. So it's a balance that needs to be maintained because one day he could lose the room and you have to decide which side to take. |

I'll take Babcock's shelf life based on his track record. Guys like Shanahan and Marleau seem to agree.

It's people are all pissed off about Babcock now because waaa waaa waaa....(frank)ing pathetic...what do they want? Why is anyone complaining? This is (frank)ing shangri-la compared to the last decade...some people are gonna complain about the parade route when that happens. - Zezel
last year some fans were all up in arms because M.Rielly played little pp and offensive minutes. Hes the best hes ever been now. |

It's as if Babcock knows what he's doing and has a plan.
I still trust the guy's here more though.
I've heard rumours that LL will stay on through the big 3 negotiations and then move up to am advisory type role |

Yeah, but some Leaf fans have been watching the games for a long time and know a thing or two about hockey. |

Nielsen was in no way the best d prospect on the marlies last year.
Good offensive skills but is quite horrible in his own end. He's a project prospect. |

I see NO point in the Leafs giving up anything for this years playoffs. What’s the point in getting eliminated in the second round instead of the first round, and losing prospects or picks for it!? I say trade Komorov, and Van Reimsdyke and Bozak for young players that put you in contention in a year or two or three. It’s an easy question, do you want second round now, or chance to win it all in the near future!? - Bullot
Any year you have a chance to win you improve your team. With at least some depth moves.
You guys need to stop hording picks and prospects. They aren't nearly as valuable as you think.

I'm bored too. If OEL is made available this deadline, the asking price is two higher end players and a 1st apperently.
Putting Gardiner hate aside and realizing with his flaws he is still a top 4, and knowing that the Arizona GM is big on advanced stats.
Gardiner(2 years left), Brown(3 years) 1st 2018
For
OEL
roster player dump
Arizona gets a top 4 D in Gardiner they can afford to resign, a young cheap two way forward that can get you 20 goals a season, and a 1st round pick.
Pains me to give up Brown but you have to give to get. Is this enough? Maybe add in a 2nd but it's a good offer IMO.
