Here's a simplified article about the Sabre's failed rebuild.

Glad to see they sent Ullmark and Guhle back down. Let them continue to gain confidence and experience a run for a title.

Would like to see them bring up Nylander for a look-see after the break.
Throw him on Jack’s wing see how he does.

This might be semantics, but I don't look at is as a failed rebuild, it's just incomplete. A failed rebuild would be drafting Reinhart and Strome (whatever, he might be good but he hasn't had much impact at the NHL level) instead of Eichel

I am of the opinion we need more good players, but it's just a continuing rebuild, not a failure

This. If you want to go with the build like Pitt through the draft, remember they had 5 top 5 picks in a row before they got good. Edm also had that, but didn't pan out. Time will tell if Buf can turn it around, but a few more top picks are necessary unfortunately for those who wanted a quick turnaround.

I agree with you. I was just quoting the article's title. I think the future is brighter than most here and whether people believe it or not the team doesn't need a complete overhaul, but a few tweaks to be successful.

2 picks #2 overall
a 6th overall pick that hasn't cracked the big club

ror
kane
scandella
okposo
lehner
bogo

many assets moved to obtain those players

and the big club is no better off in year 3 then they were when they drafted eichel

it is a failure at this point of epic proportions

Potential #Bills OC candidates include Mike McCoy, Rob Chudzinski, Ben McAdoo and Mike Shula https://t.co/TOYj2Mr136

Bucky Gleason
Another candidate they shoukd keep in mind: Alex Van Pelt. He spent last six years w/Packers, last four as QB coach with Aaron Rodgers. He would do well with young QB. As a player, he acted like a coach. https://t.co/ZVx2KcuDvN

It's a failure at this point in time, but doesn't have to be in the longer term.

It's like if you bake a cake and pull it out 15 minutes early. The cake is gonna be terrible. Just gotta let it cook longer

I’d prefer if we can stop with the bringing former players back as coaches movement we’ve had lately.

I’ll hang up and listen.

it's a perfect analogy because in my experience you're better off just baking a fresh new one

I know you want to have your OC in place as quickly as possible, but how do you know who will best fit your system if you don't know who your QB will be?

The only way to do that is if you can get someone to take your half-baked cake though. Or else you have to make the new one with dollar general ingredients. The good thing is that the frosting is still good and can be used on the new cake.

this team is terrible, money was no object for scouting and gathering resources to win a cup

this team is not even close 3 years into jack's career to sniff the 8th spot let alone competing

was crosby on a bottom 2 team in year 3, and never made the playoffs?

patty kane?

stamkos?

mcdavid?

matthews?

ovi?

hell hischier?

tim murray had a wet dream with picks, and assets and this is what he gave us, with a crappy team in rochester when he got canned

epic failure

none of those names impress me

I would rather bring in a college coach or the qb coach from the patriots

in this cake baking analogy ill ignore the ingredients value (i.e someone to take your half baked cake)

just got to toss it out (acknowledge that certain players you thought were part of the core really are not core worthy) go buy some new ingredients (draft picks, trades etc.) and this time instead of trying to rush it like a 6 year old boy looking for his sugar high, take your time and do it right.

agreed

which is why I don't think we need okposo, ror or scandella

if your planning to compete after the lockout, 2020-21, you don't need those players

Yeah it sucks. I just don't think the Sabres are that far away. A few smart moves and the team looks a lot better. There's the record in 1 goal games and such. I just don't believe it's that bad, and I'm sure I'll be lambasted by 10 people for that opinion.
