What happened to rotating the bottom 3 defensemen? Why have they demoted Dermott after just two games? The Sens loss obviously wasn't his fault since he wasn't even playing...

Goat has also looked pretty solid. Better than Moore.

I just don't get these moves. More ice time in the AHL is the only explanation that makes a lick of sense, but the way Dermott was playing, they could've just given him more ice time in the NHL and less to our underperforming defenders that he was demoted in favor of.

Sure. I'm sure he would have fixed the Sabers by playing Georges and Pominville constantly. Gud Pros.

this is crap

To be clear, I wasn't defending Polak. I see his the weakness in his play as clearly as anyone. I was lamenting the vitriol aimed at Polak. The vile hatred toward him, I just don't get.

Babcock likes that he plays with snarl. He plays tough. If you're going to beat him, you're going to pay a price.

I get it, though. Those things can't be measured. And in an age of puck-moving defencemen and zone exits, Polak stands out in neither category.

he got beat by Pyatt (or was it the other poopty 4th liner) and there was no price paid. Unless the price was a goal

And I can measure the shots and goals

No Leafs games until Tuesday, might as well send them down so they can play.

Doesn't solve anything. The Leafs are short enough as it is on top four D, you're going to throw away a 27 year old with 450 games of experience and replace him with a guy that has 2 games of experience?
- Unholy_Goalie

Keeping him solves what? Do you know the definition of insanity?

Honestly, it's also about succession planning. The leafs aren't a contender this year for the cup (don't give me the "anything can happen" bullpoop either). They simply aren't. So the management needs to consider what do they do going forward. I don't say move him now, but the off-season he can likely be replaced.

UG said last night that the Leafs won’t be a Cup contender for another 5 years. So why is he so against Dermott playing in the top-4 at the expense of Gardiner? If the Leafs aren’t going to win anyway, why not just play Dermott? lol

I think UG may be an idiot.

Not consistent in thought. Apparently 450 games of experience means he will be a better player at 465 games of experience! He will rival for a Norris!

If you play Dermott every night right now, in 5 years he will have almost 450 games of experience. UG’s a (frank)ing buffoon.

To be clear it wasn't Gardiner with the giveaway. He was fine with dermott. I think post all star break Gardiner will look like he did last year. Reilly BTW looks amazing this year. Hainsey and him are a great pair. I'd go reilly/Hainsey. ..gardiner/zaitsev....dermott/acquired dman post break. I see potential in borgman but he's not quite there yet. It felt last night that the leafs only have 3 dman they can count on: reilly (who got caught up in the whole him vs karlsson show last night with good reason) , gardiner who seemed to want to show he was still capable of going toe to toe with reilly, and very dependable Hainsey.

I think they are a contender now. The doctor just needs one more top 4 dman..and two less number 7s

I think Hainsey has been a pleasant surprise this year.

but he looked as bad as Reilly did on the gwg.

very very outside shot. They aren't yet what I would call a legitimate contender i.e. a team that wouldn't be a big surprise if they won.

Like I said...I think reilly just got a little carried away. Leading up to that point he was the best player on the ice. Babcock needs to mix up the kadri line to get it going. Switch hyman with Marleau...and brown with komarov. Gautier has impressed the crap out of me...I don't quite understand how someone so big who can carry the puck like he does isn't more dangerous. But he does his job wonderfully.

Forward wise and in goal I think we have the pieces. I also think reilly is now a legit #1 dman. I just don't like how Babcock is deploying the troops. Also apologies for all the weird typos. My phones autocorrect seems to like to put words in that I don't mean to put. Like doctor. Wtf is that

They're not rotating the bottom 3 because Carrick borgman and dermott aren't the bottom 3.

Dermott will be back after the break

i was pretty pumped when we first got him, but now starting to see what alot of wings fans were talking about. arrogant, egotistic and stubborn. he wont be going anywhere soon but those are 3 things i hate in a coach, but thats just my opinion, lots love him, good for them.
