What are the chances we can sign John Tavares? I was reading on another thread that people think its very unlikely?

I only think there is a handful of teams that will have the salary cap to be able to do it and Calgary is one.

I seen this break down on another thread and it seems fairly accurate.

His priorities would likely be as follows

Money/term
Playoff potential

The return for Brodie would be a lot more, they'd be saving an extra 1.5 million, and I think they would benefit from having a steady second pairing instead of the massive swings they get out of them now.

I don't hate Brodie, but he's been more of a detriment than an asset the last year and a half.

Maybe it's all a moot point anyway, and they never lose again and don't have to make any changes.

Don't disagree at all, I just think Stone is the first domino given the RH shots in the minors (Andersson and presumably Fox). Kylington doesn't seem to be getting much love from the Flames these days, so hard to say that we have that LH shot to take his place if we move him. Brodie is on the last year of his deal next year, so there's still some time to think about whether or not they need to extend him, or if Kylington or Kulak might be ready to take that 3/4 spot.
