That’s untrue. Hags is not a very good hockey player now. He used to be a pretty effective offensive player, although not a playmaker or goal scorer. He used to be pretty adept at digging out pucks from the boards and extending plays (which is why a lot of his points were 2As) and he was also pretty good at finding soft spots to put pucks on goal (even if they didn’t always go in). He’s not doing any of that this season. He’s essentially playing no role in the O zone and isn’t putting himself in a position to be helpful on a shift to shift basis by using his hockey smarts like he used to. This is directly tied to his down tick in production.

Right now his play and production level are those of an average to good 4th liner. That’s bad by Hagelin’s standards and really bad value wise in terms of his contract.

off topic, but not sure if you saw my post last night.. have you watched the movie Lucky yet?

I’m not looking at the money; that’s an entirely different discussion. Hagelin is a very good hockey player, he just can’t help offensive production anymore.

For the money? Yeah, he’s terrible when you compare him to others making similar salary.

Im with you on Hags. I still think he's very effective defensively and on PK and his speed is still world class. He has the 8th most shots on the team but is tied with Letang for like 3rd or 4th worst shooting % ... 2.5%

He was never a sniper but at 4 mill for this year's production it stings... And I think that's the biggest issue. What he's paid.

The big problem, which is indicated by his raw production numbers, is that he can’t be plugged into the top 6. He’s gotten so bad offensively that we’re essentially playing a man down in the O zone when he’s on the ice, and we can’t afford to hamstring Malkin or Crosby like that. If he was still doing all the other little things (which would generally get him 2As) and just not burying his shots, I’d be ok with him, but he’s not, so I’m not.

So that leaves Guentzel as our only legit top 6 winger and Sheary as the only other proven comodity that can be put up there, but only with Crosby (not a proven comodity with Malkin and his small sample is bad). Since we have to use G at 3C this is a HUGE problem. We essentially don’t have any proven top 6 LWs on this team besides Sheary, and people seem to hate him there.

You are all over it today! It has literally been like playing a man down for 16 minutes a night with him out there lately. Malkin and Kessel are eventually not gonna be able to drag him along any further and I think its becoming clear literally anyone else deserves a chance on that line to see if it works cuz hagelin has been very bad for over a year now.

And this is coming from me, who is on the record saying we would be in a worse spot of Vegas took Hagelin from us over Hornqvist.

Really just about an old man, very simple story... but the performance was phenomenal. I wouldn't be surprised if he was nominated for best actor.

Yeah man, it was directed by John Carroll Lynch, the guy who played Twisty in AHS, Eastman in the Walking Dead, and a bunch of other poop. It was his directorial debut and it was amazing. One of those movies that just feels real.

I honestly didn't know he was such a well known actor. All I really remember him from is Twisty from American Horror Story, but apparently he was in all kinds of poop that I've watched before hahaha

I know him primarily from Fargo (Big CoBros fan) and then I started noticing him in a bunch of small roles in movies like Gran Torino, Shutter Island, and Zodiac. He also played a pretty important role in this super weird HBO show I watched called Carnivalle.

They're always pretty small roles but I always love the performances he turns in. His one episode as Morgan's mentor in The Walking Dead made me wish he was a regular cast member. Maybe the show wouldn't totally blow right now if he were around.

Alot of people in here think our 2nd line LW is totally fine right now and all we need is a 3rd line center. Also my point is Hagelin has been so bad offensively this season its literally hurting the rest of the team. Ive seen it more the past couple games but guys are following malkin and leaving hagelin totally opening and its made Malkin frustrated on a couple of occasions. Im saying at least give ANYONE else for that matter a chance on the 2nd line to even try cuz that isnt working at all. So I guess its Sullivan sayings hes been ok seeing as hes staying on the 2nd line still.
- pens4life-66

If Guentzel was shifted back to LW, I'd feel pretty good about our depth there. Guentzel may be the only stud, but Sheary is at least borderline top six, Simon is promising, and Rust is a good 3rd liner who's had some good runs in the top 6. Wouldn't mind upgrading of course, but when you add those four to Kessel, Hornqvist, and Sprong I think you have legit top nine talent.

The season hasn't been giod, but it's not due to a lack of talent. We didn't lose a top 9 wing from our 2 time Cup champions. With Sprong and Simon there's certainly enough there to say it's not a hole anymore.

I'm so bored with this season, and I'm so upset that they are "rebooting" Fear the Walking Dead, I actually really liked the last season of Fear. I'm pretty bummed that the whole story line is going to change now.

I heard Fear is really bad. Didn't bother with it. Came out right around the time TWD started to go down hill so I didn't have high hopes for it.

He’s still very good defensively and at zone entries
- Rinosaur

Meh. That's debatable. His percentage is good, but he doesn't entries per 60 are pretty poor, in the 30th percentile. He's an alright 4th liner, I wouldn't say "very good" anymore, but that's all subjective.

Trust me, I was shocked to see all that blue. As much poop as I used to give Rust... he has blossomed into a solid top 6 forward. Definitely made me eat some crow.
