Great stuff Bill, thanks!

I was at the 76 game vs the Red Army team. I had no idea what was going on when the Russians walked off in the first, but I do remember my older cousin telling me it was because the Russians were scared of the Flyers!

That game was a blast and remains one of my fondest Flyer memories.

Ive decided to take a positive outlook on Jake, Shutdown and Ghost being snubbed.

Coots plays hard minutes and could use as much time off as possible.

Ghost is a smallish guy and ditto on the breaks. He needs to keep his legs under him.

Jake is Jake. He still looks like he combs his hair with a porkchop as Simmer pointed out.

Giroux seems to be strong and healthy and motivated. Im happy for him being back where he should be.

Yes, all of that, and also that the All-Star game is 100% meaningless.

My family had season tix from 68-69 until the late 90s. At that point, they were just too expensive.

I think Hextall will more or less stand pat again if they remain on the bubble, will be sellers (Filppula) if they fall out of the race. There may not be a move to be made like last year's one that swapped out Streit on the blueline for Filppula up front. The Flyers could have had a higher-round pick for Streit but made a move geared toward immediate help in a position of bigger need.

I don't see the Flyers as significant buyers. The philosophy has been that such a move would only make sense if a) it was for the future as well as the present or b) the Flyers were in a position such that they were one big move from being a serious Cup contender.

Since the first scenario is very hard to accomplish and the latter isn't the team's reality, I think it will be another fairly quiet deadline around here.

Did Streit ever get his name on last years cup?

I care as much about the all star game as I do for watching paint dry.

Paint drying is better, imho. Paint serves a legitimate purpose.

I used to love ALL Star Weekend with the old skills competitions and what not.

What they do now is an abortion.

I used to love that too. What they have done to it now is just horrible. Between the selfies and the stupid lets get dressed up and do something stupid is cringe worthy.

Just make that a league wide bye week and be done with it.

Or don't have the AS game and don't have bye weeks. Instead set the schedule so that there are fewer back-to-backs in the schedule.

I get only one forward making the team but I am really annoyed at Letang over Ghost/Provorov and a few others on other teams honestly. when was the last time Letang was a legit all-star? meh

really cool seeing how much Lindros is involved in the alumni team now. I'm so glad all sides put aside the past. Lindros was one of the best players in team history.

Speaking of Lindros. I believe there is an outside shot at Giroux passing him on the Flyers all time scoring this season. If not this season, should be early next year. G, all of 5-11 becoming one of the top 5 scorers in franchise history. That's pretty cool.

Exactly. The old skills competition was always the best part. Man, Ray Bourque never seemed to miss a target in the shooting accuracy competition.

Lindros had 659 (in only 486 games) and Giroux sits at 627. have to think he passes Lindros this year.

And Al Iafrate coming out with that terrible skullet and ripping those slapshots. God damn his hair made me physically uncomfortable.

He will most likely pass Lindros before the end of this season and he should pass Rick Macleish for 4th place on the all time list sometime during 18-19, he's currently 70 points behind him.

It will be awhile before he'll move up beyond that. He currently trails Brian Propp, who is in 3rd, by 222 points and he trails Barber, who's in 2nd, by 256.

Still, if he finishes his career in Philly and plays until his mid to late 30's, he's got a good shot of retiring #2 on the all time list. There is no way he's catching Clarke for #1, LOL.

Yes.

And I find it hard to believe that hexy wouldn't make a filp trade regardless of playoff position if he gets good value. A 2nd rounder ? Take it and run. He's an expiring contract we likely won't resign.

I don't foresee unless we completely bottom out any big trades like simmer though.

He went from playing 19:23 every night he was healthy in Philly, to playing 17:06 for the Pens in the regular season, and then playing only three out of their 25 playoff games at 15:03.
