Lawson is pretty good against the run.... he just has no pass rush. Letting Hughes go is a mistake IMHO.

It improves 2 slots on a 20 man roster, 17 more to go.

a legit defense that can move the puck up the ice will help the offense a lot

And no, besides Mittelstadt we probably don’t have any stud forwards coming (maybe Nylander)

But we do have a bunch of young forwards who could become legit 15-20 goal scorers
Bailey, Rodrigues, Baptiste, Smith, Fasching

And then guys like
Asplund, Pu & Davidsson coming after that

We gave up 135 points in 3 games, mostly rushing. Not sure if that qualifies Lawson as. Run stopper. 33 tackles and 4 sacks. Not good for the 10th overall pick.

Hughes is not what this regime is about.
