The problem is finding an apprenticeship. It's not easy and it still costs some money.
- BeadyEyedDouche

2 years at most community colleges these days (~$2500/ semester) is enough to get you a certificate and they will usually place you in the field somewhere since the certification is a bit of a leg up when looking around.

This will get much easier since ~75% of the skilled trades are nearing retirement age.

Isnt the knock on Kane :

Childish
Selfish
Doesn't get along with teammates

If your serious about winning the cup, I would think this incident with Faulk makes gms think a bit more.

- Boss34

If you make all those assumptions based on this incident, I think you need to go listen to their interviews after that practice.

I think even in the very small NHL sample size that Ghule has, he shows an ability to help us in this category quite a bit.

A number of times he makes an one touch pass to move the play up ice, reverse the rush. This lead on a few occasion a nice rush up ice and an easier zone entry.

Too many D on this team get the puck or receive a pass in our own zone and stop the puck, settle it down, and then move it. All this does is allow other teams to set up on us/make line changes.

We have one of the worst zone entries/exit ratios in the entire league, fixing that leads to more controlled possession, more scoring chances and probably more goals.
- Sabresfan-365

Even so...
fixing that and having Mittelstadt PLUS Kane, or JvR, etc would lead to us scoring more goals than if we didn’t have Kane or JvR...

Right?

Why can’t we do both?

Because JVR isn't coming here and I'd temper expectations on Mittelstadt at least in the short term

he makes it sound like 2500 is pocket change.

it still isn't cheap. That's a car. I need a car more than I need a 2 year degree.

It's crazy how many women were in love with him.

He's one goofy looking dude.

I guess when you're the lead singer of one of the biggest bands in the world, looks can fall further down the list.

Lead singer of one of the biggest bands plus more money than God and he could look like this:

and get laid more than everyone you know put together.

It's hard to answer without knowing who's actually going to be available in the summer but there are a few short term options on the list.

I dont think the team is going to fix everything in the upcoming off season, but an overhaul of the d-core could get them in a position to be buyers at the deadline

- Sabresfan-365

This is my point. Kane is not going to be that easy to replace. It prob will get worse before it gets better once hes gone unless you can swing a big trade. Or one of these young guys is able to step in and score 20 goals next season. OR you spend big money in FA

Its a continuation of the winnipeg days.
The track suit incident and other issues.

Not just this one practice incident.

Kane is trouble

Kane was playing in his "Stanley cup" of our crappy sabres season 2 times vs. Winnipeg .

He wasnt even noticeable. If he was ever going to put on a show , it would be against them

I'm just saying as a salary dump for them to make a deal better. I guess I didn't realize that his contract goes until 20-21.... so that makes the 3.8 hurt a little more. Maybe he could have the Eichel effect and boost his value...

I'm grasping at straws here.

I just want players moved.

- thatsapickle

Agree...
but let’s not bring in other guys we will want to try & dump

Hagelin from Pitt might be ok
He’s got speed at least
And he’s gone after 1 year
Taking him (maybe) gets us a better deal on a Pitt defenseman,
just like when we took Pommer to get that deal on Scandella

Fair enough
But that’s generally the only way

There’s other exceptions of course too
Starting your own business for example

But in general terms...
what I was trying to say is that a HS diploma isn’t what it used to be 40 years ago
And certainly isn’t nearly worth a college degree

So for the most part,
if u wanna get a good job u need to go to college & put yourself in debt for the next 10 years or so

That just doesn’t seem right to me

- jdfitz77

It absolutely isn't right. It is similar to the whole Diamond trade issue.

A couple companies owned the rights to much of the diamond supply. There was no demand, so they started marketing and told everyone that diamonds were the only way to please a woman.

Same thing with colleges in America. They were sitting on this huge asset, so what do you do, start a campaign to convince everyone that the only way to make money is with a degree, no matter what the degree.

It won't be easy to upgrade from him, but I think there are cost effective guys out there who could produce at the same rate as kane, especially away from eichel

Well to be fair, that is the full cost. Most people in NY qualify for some aid, and then the locality will pitch in.

When i went to Community College, I was so poor that my financial aid was actually ~$1000 more than my costs, so I was able to afford such luxuries like food and heat.

Ok...
but that doesn’t answer the question really

Fixing the defense & zone entries will help scoring, I agree

But doing that PLUS keeping Kane would help even more than not having Kane anymore

I’m just saying it doesn’t have to be one or the other

Compared to 60K a year, it is pocket change. It qualifies as student loan too if you need it. That's like $20 a month over the term for a 2 year degree.

Who tho?? Seriously i want to know

I mean I could see names like James Neal and Cam Atkinson but at what cost and what term? Neither of them are 26 years old

And that’s comparable to how big business in general has taken over the country

Govt doesn’t really help the ppl much anymore
They help the rich who fund their campaigns

Big reason why I think it’s nuts for anyone to identify as a republican OR a Democrat
Both sides are complicent in this BS

I agree: on paper it looks difficult to replace kane

Reality : a lot of his scoring was the eichel effect.

I wonder how this incident with Faulk effects his trade value

- Boss34

The Eichel effect is when the other team scores more goals against you when he is on the ice and you lose more games than you win?
