Interesting but I think he has too much skill/talent to be on the 4th line. I think he would be a great piece next to Anisimov on a 3rd scoring line. If not maybe next to 8 and 88 on the 2nd line and bump Hartman down to the 3rd line. - SimpleJack
They now have $2.8MM in LTIR cap plus $4.4MM from AA = any center making up to $7MM.
AA for Duchene with only one year left at $6MM after this year, leaving $1MM in space fir this year.
Now what can you do with the lines?
Faster, tougher, more scoring talent. |

I don't like dressing 7D on a back to back. |

But would we have traded Morin and Dauphin for Duclair and Clendening? |

I LOVE it....but is that too much wishful thinking? Hopefully not.
If that does happen here's would we should do IMO:
Saad-Toews-Hinostroza
Hartman-Schmaltz-Kane
Duclair-Duchene-DeBrincat
Sharp/Bouma-Kampf-Wingles |

Considering Clendening and Dauphin (so far anyways) have merely been Rockford filler, it's essentially Morin for Duclair and cap space at the big club, which most people I'd imagine would do in a heartbeat purely to see if they can tap into Duclairs potential ceiling |

Duclair plays on the fourth line. With Bouma and Wingels, a nastier, faster line with more scoring upside.
They aren’t done. I think they are clearing cap for a center. From Ottawa.... - Return of the Roar
I think it’s Eric Colefrom Pittsburgh the defenseman ,buddy. |

What would the hawks have to give up to get Cole do you think? |

As has been said, low risk/high reward move. Panik has been a literal waste of space all season so even if Duclair tanks, they can sign him one year dirt cheap as a RFA and aren't stuck with Panik's nearly $3mil cap hit. Hard not to love this trade given Duclair's success early in NY and his "hype". No better situation to put it all together than playing with either Toews Kane or Sharp for the young Winger. HUGE kudos to StanBo!!! |

WTC, you have your anthracite coal mixed up with lignite. It's Ian Cole not Erik, latter retired a couple years ago. Good player when healthy. |

Q likely discussed Duclair with his buddy Dave Tippett who probably told him he wasn't too smart and had no hockey sense. To which Q said "great, I've got a few low IQ guys on my team to offer back, who fits best - Panik, Kempny or Jurco"? |

Exactly.
Powers just had that in a piece with a scout describing Duclair.
Babcock said similar about Panik... so a change of scenery hopefully will be just what Duclair needs.

Thinking about this further from the Yotes' perspective, they can be freer to sell Panik to the highest bidder if he puts anything together before the deadline. They will be able to retain salary for the right package coming back. And if not this year, there is next year's deadline. I could totally see Panik going on a tear now that there is no immediate pressure on him to perform. Being inserted into Hossa's spot in the lineup, that would be a lot of pressure for anybody. |

LOL based on what I've seen from Duclain in AZ, expectations should be tempered. However, I remember Duclair having a hell of a stretch scoring and making highlight reel plays in New York his rookie year. The fact that Panik costs nearly $2mil more and has lower upside, I like this trade. |

Man.....Duchene has pretty much been a bust these last 2 years. I'm not sure if that's a good idea anymore.....and I can't believe I'm saying that.
There are better centers out there to fit our needs defensively and at the dot.....ie Danault. Montreal is in desparation mode....don't u think they'd take AA and
Kero for him ??? |

Even more so than that, i remember him being a beast for at least half a season playing next to Max Domi a few years ago.
IMO he has top 6 winger written all over him if he can find the right linemates and system to play in. I think this is the right place for him, and if we can get him with players like Schmaltz, Kane, DeBrincat, and Anisimov this might turn out VERY well for us. |

Without Hossa there, pressure is greater. As in he has to be the man. Just wondering if that got to him at all.

Why would they trade a young cost controlled player with upside for a guy coming off injury that costs significantly more?
I'd move AA and + for Patches. Him Schmaltz and Kane on the second line. Lol. Then you can probably live with being short NHL proven centers because all of the goals.
And they can either trade him after the season or sit on that super sexy 4.5 mildo hit for one more year and let him walk to wherever after. |
