Apparently not enough for such a glorious role...

I am not going to write off the fact that Seabrook came to camp not as prepared as he could have been. His off season work out or eating habits MAY have contributed to his demise this season His family life with kids MAY also caused him to loose SOME focus. We do not know for sure. I suspect he has some ailment or muscles or area in his body which he needs to treat extra special and maybe his worse skating plays into it. He and the team mayy never disclose everything. If not even anything at all.

He has slowed down but MAYBE he could be better.

comparing what kruger did his first 6 years in the league to the new guy kampf is based on $$ and offense is apples to broccoli not even in the same category...

i wish kampf well..and hope he continues to develop in key bottom 6 guy...but as I said he could just easily be gone in 2-3 weeks...

I was not comparing what Kruger did his first 6 years to the new guy. I was comparing Kruger today versus Kampf today and going forward. I would take my chances on Kampf for many reasons, age, speed, size/physicality, offensive skills, cap hit.

"The 10% rule"

I have never spoken to an NHL GM. I've never spoken with anyone even close.
BUT: I theorize that any NHL GM/Owner would happily give their entire team AT LEAST a 10% raise after winning a cup.

Here's where Seabrook and Toews fit in...
They've won 3 cups. And yeah, their contracts are bloated...

factoring in 30% raises for each due to the cups, and suddenly their adjusted cap hit isn't *as* bad when compared to over inflated contracts like Parise/Suter/Phaneuf/others, who haven't won anything...

Just food for thought.

- Slofire94

Who on here would have had the balls to lowball Kane's and Toews' agent? They had tremendous leverage for that negotiation by doing it as a team, and making it clear that they get the same deal. The ramifications for screwing this up are not only immediate rebuild, but also massive loss of revenue. And financially, the contracts are guaranteed by insurance policies. So the result is they make money and we female dog whenever one of them doesn't play up to their contract value.

When Seabrook signed, he also had leverage. A top 4 D is in short supply in this league. If they lose him, they only 2 and 4 remain. And the pipeline was quite thin at the time. Look at nearly any NHL roster and you'll find overpaid Ds. There's a reason for that. Did they expect this season to happen at signing time? And for all we know, he's playing with an injury. They probably should be giving him more nights off and more maintenance days.

You know we might have another nice ADD in Highmore. Plus Sinkula. Possibly roll four very good lines. Players sitting will play hard when they get an opportunity.

It is the defense that worries me. You can forget about Cole, too, because he sits now in Pittsburgh because he is unabled to adjust or do some things in the way they want their dmen to play. Has a lot to do with playing at higher speed..Same sort of thing our guys are experiencing on the offensive side and defensive side for the D men.

We yak about what ails our hockey team but I am sure many readers here could feel quite satisfied with a pre-game meal at the still very good Gale Street Inn or Miller's Pub. If you want more than just ribs, get the jambalaya & ribs combo at Gale Street.

I know Kane has frequented this place. I heard a few years ago when they used to have a cool jazz Monday night, the coach Q also stopped in. You can eat in the bar too

Let the rest of the boys rest, I'm fine with that. Although I would have expected Bouma to get the nod too.

The team needs more players playing like all stars, not no stars. Which category should Bouma fit?

Ahh, man...dogging Bouma?

He's a role player and does what's asked of him--goes out there and works, gets physical, etc. He had a couple nice plays last night wherehe broke up a pass and blocked a shot in the same shift--Eddie even complimented him on his play as of late.

You can't compare a Bouma-type dude to a high caliber player. It's apples and oranges, man.

He is a star, a standout among the no stars brigrade on his team. I was poking fun, answering satire with satire. A stinging satire on the state of this unsettled roster, where some kids play like stars sometimes, others merely show hints of superlative performance, and then you have a good soldier like Bouma. He stands out in his own way. The Star of the no star bunch which is a player commonly found on many teams
