We have a winner:
Boeser for Gudbranson? No, but Marner isn't close to being as good as Boeser is, so there you go. Truthfully, Marner straight up for Guddy is close to fair value as both had one good season and now are afterthoughts on their respective rosters but still with a lot of upside. That's why they call them hockey trades, both think they gave up too much. - Matthews_Auston

I'm still really puzzled by one thing:
If Gudbranson is so good, why don't the Canucks (and Canucks fans) want to re-sign him? - Atomic Wedgie
Maybe the fans don't want it. In all honesty, I don't think he's awful. He'll never get a hattrick but he's pretty good at defending. Maybe they just want a different type of d-man, the kind that can move pucks and all that jazz. |

Because he will want too much to stay...Yet solid d-men are everything to a rebuilding team. (Leafs should have drafted one of them ahead of Marner) |

Ha - total BS.
Arizona has no fans, so they don't say anything negative about us. |

He's a bottom-pairing guy about to become a UFA.
I'm simply not interested in trading away anything of value for him, and I sincerely doubt Lou is, either. |

Me neither. I'm aware that the Leafs defensive game could use some shoring up.
I'm ok with being patient and waiting for the right draft pick, deal, or call-up to fill that void that doesn't require shipping or shelling out a ton.
Besides, the defense isn't wholly responsible, the forward group could use a bit of tightening up in their own zone as well. |

Really?
Damn.
Because I thought Leafs fans and Arizona fans had united in our hatred of James Tanner's blogs.
Turns out they were just leading us on, toying with our emotions the whole time?
That's cold. |

Please forgive me, Leafs Nation, but I've been a Leafs fan for a long time.
Do the current Leafs look good?
Hell yes.
Do I think we will make the playoffs?
Hell yes.
Do I think we should make some moves, sacrifice a little bit of the future for the present, and go for it?
A thousand franking times, NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We've all seen this before. A dozen times before. For the love of Owen Nolan, let's not repeat the mistakes of past MLSEL regimes.
This isn't our time yet.
Stay the course.
Stick to the Shanaplan. |

I just posted the Coles Notes* version of this in one of the ridiculous Sens/Leafs blogs.

Well if they trade low value for him why not?
The Canucks will get a couple lottery tickets for him |

He's a third pairing guy.
If the Leafs don't find any D that they can trade for they will trade for a Gudbranson type d man. A guy that can replace Polak.
I'm sure Lou is looking, but if a deal dosnt make sense you look at low cost options. |
