It's getting even harder to follow.

Gudbranson for Marner is a fair deal, because Boeser went 23rd overall.

- Atomic Wedgie

Makes sense, I like how several in that thread suggested that Matthews always feeds the puck to Marner, and yet he still can't score..

We have a winner:

Boeser for Gudbranson? No, but Marner isn't close to being as good as Boeser is, so there you go. Truthfully, Marner straight up for Guddy is close to fair value as both had one good season and now are afterthoughts on their respective rosters but still with a lot of upside. That's why they call them hockey trades, both think they gave up too much.

To be fair, Marner really does benefit from the roughly 15 seconds of ice time he averages per game with Matthews.

To put that into perspective, over 44gp, Marner has squandered the 6.9 minutes he's played with Matthews this season.

In all seriousness, Marner is on Pace for 55 points after a horrible start to the season. And he's 20.

I admit, Boeser looks like the real deal and Marner may not be as good as him in the long term, but Marner is certainly worth more than a happy meal toy.

Just after we trade them Kadri, Rielly and a 1st for Lalongo.

They truly are thick as poop, God bless them

Marner's much better than Boeser. Not even close. Boeser's the same as Laine did last year. Next year he'll be a PP and empty net specialist.

The discussion was about Marner being equal value for Gud(awful)branson in their eyes.

This is one of a few sticking points with Babcock for me. I get what he did with Rielly last season, mostly defensive assignments, little to no PP time, etc. It's clearly paid dividends this season.

What I don't get is how saddling Marner (and to a much lesser extent Willy) with Martin and (insert other 4th liner) for a long period time is supposed to teach them anything. It's just a "putting them in the doghouse" move and I really don't agree with Babcock approaching it that way.

I guess you didn't catch the part where I implied that Gudbranson was worth a happy meal toy.

Boeser's doing really well on a poop team. I think it's a matter of seeing how he looks at game 100 or end of season 2.

Meh. Anyone can do well as a rookie. Wait until the 2nd year onwards. That's when the hard work starts.

Nucks fans taught me this last year.

I agree with you there because Komarov NEVER goes in the doghouse and his play/points for his ice time is dismal. Yet Nylander and Marner are punished.

Babcock has always had a reputation of loving the "hard working" guys a little too much. Even in Detroit.

Boeser has 22 goals this year.

16 have been at even strength.

I'm having a hard time imagining him as strictly a PP specialist next year.

We need to start the fire Babcock chants cause he's truly worse that any head coach the Leafs have had in the last 2 years.

Rookie season is a piece of piss. Much harder when other teams prepare for you.

I'm still really puzzled by one thing:

If Gudbranson is so good, why don't the Canucks (and Canucks fans) want to re-sign him?

Isn't that strange, the fans of the 30 other clubs say the exact same thing about the Leafs fans.

You're wasting your time over there. Marner not enough for Gud(awful)branson.

They can't be serious.

That would eclipse even the LolOwnGoal idiocy.
