What is it about Polak though? Why does Babcock love him? It can't be because he tried to rip off Namestnikov's head is it? |

I really wish I knew what was going on in Babcock's head.
Is he still doing the whole 'you have to earn your spot', and so because Dermott wasn't Doughty out there he sits for a game?
How about icing the lineup that has the best chance to win the game? |

i think he doesn't want to dress carrick, dermott and borgman in the same game. too much inexperience.
though i don't think polak's experience makes up for the lack thereof from the other 3. |

I do find Babcock to be an interesting conundrum.
He's obviously 1,000X the coach I could ever hope to be, so I'm assuming that everything he does is for a very good reason.
But questions remain:
- Why doesn't Matthews get more OT ice time?
- Why does Polak get such reverence?
- Why does Komarov get so much ice time? |

Same here.
Using that logic, Gardiner should have been benched for 30 of the past 44 games |

I think he's looking at individual efforts vs potential.
Roman Polak plays up to his potential every night (which is poop), and if Matthews plays below his potential which is still better than 90% of the league then he sits. |

The Komarov thing is weird too, why start with Komarov in OT? You can't seriously be line-matching when it is 3 on 3 play... Shouldn't it be best on best? |

Huge difference between inexperience at forward and inexperience on defence, though. |

i think it's easier for forwards to learn on the fly.
mistakes by inexperienced dmen often end up in the back of the net. |

I guess...but inexperience looked much better than experience the last 2 games

that feels like he's been watching too much game tape and is over thinking it.
keep in simple in OT - put your best out there. |
