Neither will it win us a cup.

Simply not the right time.

- Aetherial

we did it last year, when it looked like less of the right time.

i think this year is about winning a round; at least going further than last year. and if someone can upset tampa, the east will be wide open.

The leafs have a chance for the first time in years. I'd definitely put teams in front of them, but giving up a couple small pieces to improve makes sense.

Any year you have a chance you play to win. Period.

Sorry but it's not all about winning the cup, It's still a business and and extra playoff round puts at least 12 mill in the coffers on seats and conncessions alone.

trading a 2nd and 4th for badbranson won't set us back.

just like the boyle deal, i think the leafs will add some depth at the TDL.

- Tumbleweed

I double-dog dare you to wade into the Canucks thread and propose that.

They'll eat you alive.

I'm not going to lie to you:

I don't think we beat Boston, unless something radically changes.

They are killing it right now.

Please forgive me, Leafs Nation, but I've been a Leafs fan for a long time.

Do the current Leafs look good?

Hell yes.

Do I think we will make the playoffs?

Hell yes.

Do I think we should make some moves, sacrifice a little bit of the future for the present, and go for it?

A thousand franking times, NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We've all seen this before. A dozen times before. For the love of Owen Nolan, let's not repeat the mistakes of past MLSEL regimes.

This isn't our time yet.

Stay the course.

Stick to the Shanaplan.

Losing a 2nd round pick is nothing.

A bunch of (frank)ing horders in here

I'm honestly trying to remember what we added last year - drawing a blank.

Teams get hot and cold.

We'll see but way too early to make that assumption for either team.

That's so far below the asking price right now.

I'd do a 2nd rounder.

Vancouver wouldn't even pick up the phone to tell you to go frank yourself.

Preach it brother.
Ive been saying that exact thing all year.

Luckily for us, management thinks the same way.

they paid a former late 1st round pick who was coming off a meh season and a 2nd for him; when he had term and was a top 4 dman in florida.

as a rental, and now bottom pairing dman, he's worth half of that. a 2nd and 4th.

I'll throw in a prospect.

Lots of throw in prospects that have some value in a rental deal. But not much value to the leafs or to a team in a good hockey trade.

Last year was all about the kids playing a playoff game. In order for that to happen, they needed to trade for Boyle.

This year they don't. The team is going to make it as is. Now it's up to the team to try and win a round in the playoffs.

i suspect we will add, because the goal is too get as far as you can. but just a depth move.

Lamoriello on #Leafs potential trade deadline plans: "I think you always know what you’d like to improve in. But it’s easier said that done. You need a partner to do it with, and then whatever the price is, it can’t be something [that's] going to put a hole in your team."
