With both teams coming off bye weeks, the NJ game could be a sloppy one. Lets just hope the Flyers can win it in regulation.

Picking some midseason Flyer trophy winners sounds like fun, here's mine:

Hart: Couturier
Ross: Giroux
Richard: Couturier
Norris: Provorov
Selke: Couturier
Calder: Hagg
Vezina: Elliott
Byng: Provorov, to only have 12 PMs with his icetime and matchups is impressive
Masterton: Giroux

thats only 9, can you add a one ot make it a top 10. thanks.

He was a PPG player for over 700 AHL games, which is prolific.

I wouldn't be anxious to trade Ghost either. His offensive tools are so dynamic.

I do agree with you. At the start of the season I would have been inclined to move him but I honestly have been very happy with his game so far. That being said if the deal is right I would give it consideration.

I just don't believe his skill set is easy to replace.

That is some crazy consistency over 700 games, regardless of what level you are playing.

Best ever. Pronounced every name like a native speaker, explained the game without ever talking down to his audience, actually called the play by play during the action instead of finishing up some asinine story like many current announcers, wasn't afraid to criticize the Flyers when they weren't playing well and you could hear the love he had for both the Flyers and the game of hockey in his voice.

When it comes down to the greatest all time Philly announcers it's Gene Hart and the Phillies tandem of Harry Kalas/Richie Ashburn and then everyone else. Those guys set the standard.

Gene Hart will always be a great memory for me. One of my middle school teachers had a second job as the penalty box timekeeper. Every year he would bring Gene Hart in and maybe a surprise guest. I think during my 3 years at the school we only had one special guest and it was Bill Barber. Gene was always great at answering our questions for the time we had with him. No question was treated as a dumb question and he made sure the answer was sufficient to the questioner before moving on. He also made sure to sign photos for everyone who was there. He definitely helped make some new fans each trip in.

Some guys can tear up lower tier leagues like the AHL but just don't have the tools for the NHL. If the AHL, the goalies aren't as good, the players are slower, the decision making window is longer, and the overall level of play is a step down. Sometimes a player is good enough to be able to take advantage of that, but can't hack it in the NHL (see: Akeson, Jason). Granted, I think some guys deserve a shot (see: Akeson, Jason), but they usually just become very good AHL players (see: Akeson, Jason).

He was also banging away at the GM's daughter.

Yep I had the pleasure of her sitting behind me at a Phantoms game when Peter got in a fight. He didn't do well in the fight and she wasn't too happy he was fighting.

VERY true. And it also indicates the true difference between what many feel are the two best leagues in the world.

Is Danny Briere still working within the Flyers organization? I feel like that guy could have an impact on guys like TK and Weal he was one of my favorite "undersized" players to watch as a Flyer.

Sure, I'll give it a shot. I am ranking them based on an imaginary NHL18 style "value" and ignoring anyone that has made an NHL debut.

1. Lindblom
2. Myers
3. Frost
4. Allison
5. Rubstov
6. Hart
7. Ratcliffe
8. Vorobyev
9. Hogberg
10. Laczynski

I am fine with Friedman in there...4-6 are all pretty even to me...I am not a huge Bernhardt fan, but others seem to be.

- YuenglingJagr

I'll start this post with a caveat that I don't get to watch as much lower/minor league hockey you, but

I'm surprised to see Allison above Hart there (also see that you say they are even), but from everything I've read and seen about Hart, you'd think he's the second coming of Marty Broduer. That's not a knock on Allison, have only seen him play a few times (and of course the obligatory youtube highlights).

Do you think think very highly of Allison, or do you not think as highly of Hart?

I think Hart could be the franchise goalie that the Flyers have wanted but goalies take time and are hard to predict.

I think Allison could make a quicker transition and impact with the Flyers as he already has NHL size and offensive game.
