Laughton has played well. just need to settle on the other 2 parts of that line. I dislike the 2nd like. Not a fan of Filppula and would really rather see Raffl on the 4th line if that meant the talent level overall on the team was better. as it stands i get why he is on the 2nd line.

Oh I get why they are where they are. And they are who we thought they are.

I was just being a smart ass

Andy Reid was a coach who came up with wonderful game plans. However, if the opponent was able to counter that game plan, he was unable to adjust in-game. But overall, he was a very good coach, and to me, was the best in Eagles' history.

you have to admit tho his playoff failures in KC have been brutal. while no super bowl win, his playoff record here was good.

His playoff and regular seasons here prove that he was a good coach. And I think his record after the bye is something like 10-2 or so, so the guy knew how to game plan. He just couldn't adjust once someone was able to figure out his game plan.

Reid was 10-9 in the playoffs with the Eagles. Not awful, but not great. 1-4 in KC.

Reid in NFC Championship games and Super Bowls. 1-5. That is pretty terrible.

Yeah it is really annoying. I haven't seen anything about a big surgery that kept him out an extended period of time. It sounds like he has just been trying to recover for the last couple months. Bryans has Rautio so they were sort of 1A/1B. I saw some tweet that the loan is contingent on him playing a lot so we will see. It all sounds positive.

Hoping/assuming that Bill will have an update on his next blog

I heard some where that it was an issue with his stomach?

TSN analyst Scott Cullen came out with his mid season award winners. He has Bergeron as the Selke winner right now and Couts as the runner up. Hard to disagree because of Bergeron's winning it for awhile now. And likely his 4 goal game the other night solidified that. But I think If Couts can keep up his pace for the next half, I think he has a real chance at winning the Selke.

Who in your opinion does he defend better than on this current roster at the moment?
- MBFlyerfan

it really comes down to what "defend" means to you, and we know what it means to the coach. Notice I said better defender, and that is because i think he plays the defense position better than Manning and Hagg. He isn't as polished in his own zone as either of them, but he's also much better at getting the puck up the ice than those two. I think he is good at using his body and we will see an improvement in his stick soon too. He has made mistakes, but I think an unusual amount of them have ended up in the net too.

He had knee surgery earlier in the year (minor procedure) and then I believe he was working through a hernia type injury. I did see reports that he blew out his knee, but he wouldn't be coming back if that were true. Again, hoping Bill knows more

Couturier is on pace for something like 42 goals. Even if he doesn't keep up the pace, he's got a chance to win it. 30+ goals.

It doesn't surprise me that Bergeron gets the benefit of the doubt, but it is absolutely Coots right now. His goal pace probably won't keep up, but the pts could and he's just amazing defensively. Everyone is on Bergeron's nuts from the 4 goal game, but Couts is in good position.

I always have laughed at the Selke and Norris trophies. The best defensive forward and the best defenseman. Oh only IF your score also.

Sanheim has made some mistakes, especially those that end up in the back of the net, but I don't see how he is the worst defender on the team. That is poppycock. He knows how to play defense well, and he will get there. Results vs process time and time again.

To be fair the wording of what the award is for is fine for the Norris trophy and why offense should be part of it but not for the Selke.

You think that Kris Draper and Rick Meagher were high-octane offensive players? Or Jere Lehtinen, Mike Peca, and John Madden for that matter?

Benefit of the doubt for Bergeron? He may be the best all around forward in the entire league.

Maybe if they rename the Selke to the "200 Foot Player" award people will get on board.

Before the 4 goal game he had 28 points on the season.. Hard to see how Coots isnt the favorite right now.

edit: I guess he does have 32 pts in 35 games..

Historically, he has been among the best. I don't think that means he necessarily is every year. He has the reputation of being the best and is tied for the most Selke awards. That will carry weight with voters over someone who hasn't placed higher than 8th
