I think Filppula would be more toward futures. But i would think Vecchione could be a 3rd line replacement and Patrick moved into 2nd line role.
Simmonds would be more of possibly a young roster player, 1st rounder and possibly a prospect. - J35Bacher
If I could get a 3rd or better for Filppula, I'd do it and backfill him with Vecchione.
For Simmonds, it would have to be a deal that is lateral in the present and better in the future. Simmonds, when on his game, is unique right now. There's not another player who can bring everything that he can on the same level. |

Does this also mean you are big enough to tie your own skates?😁
NOTE: this is going to be a long (frank)ing week if I'm driven to these kind of comments on Monday. |

Sadly, this should be Laberge until he got dealt a case of death. - jmatchett383
Rubstov in the second half. Pappa Coots will get him squared away. |

What's the offer for Filppula? A 4th or 5th round pick then I probably keep him and make a play for the playoffs. A much higher pick or quality prospect then I probably make the deal and it'll be what it is. - MJL
I think Filppula could be a conditional type pick. Conditional 4th rounder that gets better depending on how far the other team goes in the playoffs. Kind of like the one pick we got for Kimmo.

Flyers have 3 prospects in the top 7 scoring in the NCAA. Top scorer in the OHL. Top goalie in most WHL categories. Where is the QMJHL leader board representation? - SimmerDown
Andrew Sturtz from Penn State is 9th in ppg. He is a really fun player to watch and root for. Doubt there is much of an NHL ceiling, but wouldn't mind giving him a chance eventually. He is all motor and plays very strong around the net. |

Coots 2.0?
I hope he gets on track. This kid has had a rough go since draft day. Screwed over in the KHL, hurt several times here and perhaps not used well at first in jrs. |

No Flyers hockey? Is it summer? Wait, who won the cup? Not (frank)ing Crosby again? Oh Pens not in play offs? Cool, great season. |

No, that's what all of the "experts" on here use to talk up players that the Flyers could pick in the upcoming draft, especially players that could 6th round "steals."
The only cure for Flyers withdrawal is Philadelphia Rebels hockey. REAL hockey. - jmatchett383
I mean some actually watch the games, but you're probably right for the majority . Personally, I find junior hockey quite entertaining and prefer it over most NHL games. |

I agree, but at the same time I'd have to be very confident Patrick is ready for 2C duties. I would not want to move him to 2C and saddle him with too much too soon.

It's knot that hard after you practice a few times. Strung together a few perfect ties in a row and really got the hang of it. Such a nooseance asking people for help all the time. |

Not sure he can live up to that comparison.
Coots was dominating the Q as a 17 year old. He was considered as a potential 1st overall pick going into his draft year. |

Yeah, Coots ran off back to back 96 pt seasons. Ten less games in his draft year due to mono. Been a huge fan of his from day one.
Every time He has been with good players he has produce in the point per game range. How does a guy that is slow get to the net for so many tip in attempts? He had two with TK yesterday. Maybe he isn't that slow. |

Seems as if Weal is finding a groove finally. He may not be lighting up the score sheet right now but he has been dominating board battles much like last season. |

on TSN:
Winner: Patrice Bergeron, C, Boston
Runners-Up: Sean Couturier, C, Philadelphia; Mikael Backlund, C, Calgary
This remains Bergeron's award, and even though he's starting more shifts in the offensive zone, his dominant two-way results still warrant max respect.
Couturier has been a high-end checking centre for much of his career, but his increased offensive production this year might actually earn him more votes for this defensive award.
Backlund is a widely underrated player, mostly because his scoring numbers are only okay, but possession and context show just how much of an impact he has on the game.
Florida's Aleksander Barkov and Los Angeles' Anze Kopitar are worthy contenders, too.
BTW the highlighted is stupid to me. why does a player have to have offensive numbers to win the defensive player of the year award? I know its the way it is but makes no sense |
