I loved the trade and the wins are the cherry on top.

Yeah it is really annoying. I haven't seen anything about a big surgery that kept him out an extended period of time. It sounds like he has just been trying to recover for the last couple months. Bryans has Rautio so they were sort of 1A/1B. I saw some tweet that the loan is contingent on him playing a lot so we will see. It all sounds positive.

I wonder if your in that last wildcard spot, could you hold it down if you moved both Filppula and Simmonds.

You would have to assume your getting a good young roster player back in the Simmonds deal. So you could be adding that player and myabe Lindblom and Vecchione.


I think you would still have to make the deals.

This might be true if the team wasn't at least competing for a playoff spot.

Filppula yes.....Simmonds I wouldn't move....but that's more of the fan talking. In the end anyone can get traded I guess, but I would need one hell of an offer to move Simmonds. He's the type of athlete that could play solid into his mid 30's.

That's where I'd be at too. Plus you could always pull Giroux off wing and make him 2c if you had to in a crunch. You could pair Jake back with Coots and TK with Giroux...just need to slot in additional wings.

Still dont think the Flyers would do it because they hold to the adage that playoff experience, even if one and done, prepares players for bigger moments and speeds development.

Simmer has been dinged most of the year. He is starting to move better and things are clicking a bit.
FWIW, Patrick has been moving much better lately. I like that line with Weal on it.
Really still two forwards away for 4 balanced lines. If we get Lindblom to play with Jake and Fil, Raffl to the 4th with Laughton and who ever, we have better balance.

What's the offer for Filppula? A 4th or 5th round pick then I probably keep him and make a play for the playoffs. A much higher pick or quality prospect then I probably make the deal and it'll be what it is.

I realize it's not a popular opinion around here...but Yes I m on the resign Simmonds band wagon. I'm not even sure about term and $ amount....for now I hope they hang on to him. It indeed might be the wrong answer.

The way the defense is set up now he really isn't going to see more minutes unless something happens to one of the top 4.

I understand wanting to see Sanheim play. I do. But I also think Manning is playing well.

My issue isn't that manning is player instead of Sanheim . my issue is he isn't playing anywhere. Hakstol made the comment that he needs to fix some issues in the defensive zone. he needs to play so send him to the Phantoms.
