Yeah I wonder if they get the Philly treatment from the media.

Manning hasn't played all that great recently and they keep going back to him. - hereticpride
Obviously you have a biased opinion of Sanheim play which differs from not only Hextall but Hak as well. Hak is trying to get this team to the playoffs and right now if you think Manning isn't playing well or Hagg or Amac you should watch more closely as all three even with the odd mistake are playing well. Much better than Sanheim the Rover, I agree he is gonna be good but most games he's been a disaster in his own end. Agree he shouldn't be sitting but then send him down . He can come back up. Manning is a 6/7 D, but is still more reliable than Sanheim at this point. Quit your wineing the team is playing well. |

A legitimate point by mjl was made in the last thread about Filppula. How the team would miss him if he were to get hurt and he missed time. Mjl is right. With this said, Giroux made interesting comments within the last 24 hours of how he still views himself a center, and he is. I still believe we should get what we can for Filppula at the deadline. This isn't a "Go all in season". I'm interested in seeing Laughton move up in the line up. I think German Rubstov takes over in Filppula's role next season. I think some of these bridge gap players have to be sacrificed for the development of up and coming young players. - SuperSchennBros
I saw some of those quotes from Giroux. I thought he was saying that he doesn’t feel he’s playing any differently in the offensive zone then he did as a center. The difference is that he doesn’t have as much defensive responsibility. Also, I think the hope is that Patrick is the #2 center next year. |

First of all, I haven't even been critical of Hagg. And I haven't been critical of AMac lately either unless it was a glaring error he's made, as I would with any player.
I've also repeatedly said that I want Sanhiem playing, BE IT IN THE NHL OR AHL. The issue isn't Manning playing over him. The issue is Sanhiem not playing hockey, period. In regards to Manning all I said is that I want him off PP2. They could replace him with Gudas there for all I care.

60 years later they have 4 ninite segments on ESPN before the game on Christmas about the "Santa incident". Let's see what happens here *eyeroll* |

Exactly what I was thinking as it happened. Hell, we cheered Lehner when stayed in the game today.
Really, hoping the Panthers can pull off this comeback. I can't stand the Saints. |

If they aren't gonna dress Sanheim (and if not, send him down Hexy), then just go with Provy and 4 forwards on pp2. Manning is just sinkhole on that unit. |

I remember a number of years ago, still when it was Versus, Emrick referred to the crowd as "bloodthirsty flyers fans" just when talking about them during a home game.
If people the same way they do against literally anything else like they do against Philadelphia sports fans, we'd still be leaving babies on cliffs because they were too small like the Spartans. |

I find it odd TK hasn't replaced Manning on that line, particularly with his recent sucess. |

I'd swap Raffl in for Filppula but hopefully soon both will be replaced by Lindblom |

It's hilarious. Flyers games are so ridiculously tame. Sure, you get your drunk college kids but so does every sporting team anywhere.
I heard something in an interview the other day that the Flyers were wanting to make the building a tough place to come into and I laughed out loud. Its so family oriented now. |

I do also. I really think Konecny is developing nicely. It's been up and down but he has been really effective lately at 5 on 5 and had another strong game today.
The thing is the Flyers have a philosophy that unless a player is exceptional such as Provorov is or plays the game the right way away from the puck like Patrick does, they will not give a young player PP time until he plays the game away from the puck right consistently in terms of positioning, coverage, and puck management. That's been the situation with both Konency and Sanheim. I understand it and agree with it but sometimes I think they should be a little less strict and give a player a taste sometimes. I feel like Konecny has earned PP time with his recent play.

It's crazy. You can see he battling some confidence issues early in the season. He's not 'gripping his stick' so tight anymore, best way I can describe it. |

Yes I like Konecny on the line with Giroux. I think they compliment each other quite well. That long stretch pass to Giroux yesterday against St Louis was a thing of beauty! |

while I agree Manning is a safer bet, it still doesn't make sense. if you watch every game, every D makes mistakes. I watched MacD and manning cough up the puck on the regular this weekend, heck Provy is coughing it up or getting caught on a pinch more than anyone.
Watching Pitt play Boston last night you could see the speed and skill, the passing was amazing. Someone like Manning or Mac D will be completely exposed, why they need to get Sanheim in at least every other game, he has the skill set to skate with them. Every Athlete loves to be challenged, challenge him to shut them down. live with the mistakes, they do now.
The Flyers are middle of the road in goals against, with Sanheim having played a good bit. Do we think that is going down now that he is sitting? |

I think we will probably see Sanheim back in after the break. I doubt he gets sent to Lehigh because the Phantoms don't play until Friday. So there is really no point unless they plan on keeping him out of the lineup.
The organization now has a little clearer picture on Ghoul. He looks like he can be a solid 4th liner/PK guy in the NHL. Good speed, size, energy and looks like he can play a little bit.
Lindblom will be up soon. Weise, Leier, and Lehtera are seeing to that for him.
Still a bubble team. The sky is not falling. The kids aren't being destroyed by the organizational philosophy of overcooking prospects.
Everybody relax. Its not 2020 yet. |

The Flyers have played top teams in the league this season and beaten them such as St. Louis recently with Manning and MacDonald in the lineup. I think that at some point Sanheim is going to be a stud defenseman on this team and I agree with everyone that he needs to play. With that being said by far the worst defenseman on the team is Sanheim who is also the worst defender. It takes a lot more than skating to be a good NHL defenseman and Sanheim is not there yet. |
