I can see how its hard to justify swapping Sanheim for manning as long as he keeps playing well, or for Gudas, since he is behaving himself. But if they are not going to swap him for Alt, they need to play him sometimes. Since Hak has decided to change his pairings situationally (Provy and Ghost at the beginning of games, Provy and AMac to protect a lead), why not do that with Sanheim. Sanheim and AMac early, Provy and AMac late. Sanheim has never been paired with a stable partner. That's what helped Ghost and Provy, and it will help him.

I agree that MacDonald would make a good partner for Sanheim or any other young defenseman. The issue is that the Flyers are using the MacDonald -Hagg pairing as the main shutdown pair against top lines and with heavy D zone starts. Sanheim needs to play sheltered minutes now.

His (frank)ing ugly face and hair would probably break the John Deere. How does his wife sleep with him

not so much, his minutes have been sheltered and low, he doesn't play in crunch time. I personally think he is playing ok and just needs minutes. In theory you could put Lehtera at 4th line center and Laughton to 3C, I wouldn't but that is similar to Sanheim, I get they have vets on D and it makes it easy to sit Sanheim
- wcorvette

In theory. But Patrick IS playing better than both Laughton and Lehtera, it just isn't showing up on the score sheet. Whichever If Lehtera is on a line with either Patrick or Laughton, they should at least be having him take the draws.

I agree that is the problem. But Hagg-Provorov would work just as well.

As MacDonald-Hagg, yes it would. The current arrangement frees up Provorov to play with Gostisbehere and with the Giroux line as much as possible in the best offensive situations.

if they continue to play Manning and he holds his level of play, will he get a 3rd round pick at the deadline?

vecchione and martel?
- hammarby31

I thought about Vecchione but I'm just more excited about the upside of others than his NCAA career and solid start with the phantoms.

Martels had a great year with the phantoms but I have a hunch that if he breaks through to the NHL, it won't be with the Flyers.

Would expect he's more likely worth a 4th or 5th. Wouldn't be shocked if someone offered a 3rd. Don't think the Flyers would move him if he keeps playing well.

Like I said. I'm not going to derail the thread. But he's basically fishing for arguments with that comment.
- hereticpride

I wasn't fishing for arguments at all. My point was that he is the president, and all of the protesting in the world won't change that. As someone defined by age as a millenial, I agree that we've been coddled, so as soon as a president gets elected that we don't like, ee start throwing tantrums like babies. And that does nothing but engorce a steteotype.

That wss my point, that even though I didn't like him getting elected, he did, and I csn accept that. So no, not fushing for arguments at all.

Just wanted to make that clear, sorry.
