Rather than take another bad contract to add to the rather lengthy list already, I would prefer for the Sabres to package some of their prospects like Fasching, Bailey, Baptiste to create additional value when trying to trade Okposo and Bogo.
They can retain salary on Pommer and get a 2nd out of it at the TD. If they manage to dump those three contracts it would be a huge win.

I can see a Molson buy out coming this summer, Pommer still has leadership and defensive value in the bottom six so I think he'll finish out his deal. Bogo would be the one to try to move as would be okposo. But given the cap going up, ELC players coming in next year, Kane most likely being traded, and Gorges gone, the Sabres should be fine letting some of these bad contracts run their course.

By the end of next season, Bowel-U, Larsson, and Girgs I believe will also be shown the door.

Good points.
I guess I’m looking at it not from the Cap perspective so much, rather more from player production / contract value standpoint. Trying to get pay and performance balanced rather than merely reducing cap hit.

Okposso and Pommer are performing as 3rd liners while being paid as 1st liners. I’d prefer to get rid of them and take the hit accordingly rather than play them on the 3rd line.

I think some team would give us a pic (2/3) for Pommer, especially if they retained salary...which I would rather have that pick as currency than Pommer at this point on this team. That’s a win for them in my book.

Same with Okposo, but here they need to add more value to bring the trade to a neutral value ... so add in a Bailey or Baptiste. Try to stay away from bad contracts coming back as well as not retaining salary would be key here.
