I'll just say this:

If he beats the piss out of someone tomorrow (Thorburn?), I'll enjoy it. It may not make them win, but it will be enjoyable.

- jmatchett383

I would much rather have him be a solid PK guy and help the pk go 3 for 3 and he play a physical game and create chances off a heavy forecheck.

Kid can make some sick reads/passes with the puck. Once they get him paired with a true sniper it's going to be a very good line.
- hereticpride

you can see he is skating better, he will get better as he goes, another poster hit it right, a good offseason and we will see the real Patrick. A sniper please

Over the season, no. But he was riding an 11-game point streak, which (to me) is "a tear."
- jmatchett383

Morgan Frost is on a 15 game point streak with 33 points. Different level of competition yes but that is a "tear"

only time will tell but he looks good, kind of the replacement down the road for Giroux if they are lucky.

I've been able to watch a few of his games this season his club just had their 23 game winnings streak snapped last night but he was the catalyst behind the stretch. Still young you never truly know what the finished product will be but he's having a hell of a season.

Did you miss the part i said to totally different player?

Also how do you know it was knee jerk. Do you know if they had talks to infuse some grit or speed into the 4th line? Goulbourne was also used on the PK. So maybe they thought this could be a help in two areas.

I would love to see Lindblom up. But bring up Lindblom means more line juggling then bringing up just Goulbourne. If your adding Lindblom to the top 9 then your probably moving someone like Weal or Raffl back to the 4th line. Weal doesn't seem to thrive there and everyone was clamoring for Raffl to not to be on the 4th line.

- J35Bacher

Then why did you even compare them?

If it wasn't a knee-jerk reaction, Goul would not have been sent to Toronto on Wednesday with the AHL team, which is the reason he wasn't playing.. because he couldn't get here.

I would rather have the problem of moving Raffl or Weal back to the 4th line if it meant we would get balance up and down the lineup.

And again, just to be clear, I agree. I want him to be successful, but I (very reasonably) have my doubts.

I don't think he will ever be a pure sniper. His vision is his best asset.

From what I've seen his absolute peak would be something like Tavaraes if he improves his skating.

As would I. But, just the same way that I want Morin to be a solid shutdown defenseman, I wouldn't be upset if he manhandled some dude and beat the piss out of him, either.

I think the problem with A Mac and Hagger together is A Mac giving easy entries. Then it snowballs.
- dragonoffrost

The problem with this pairing is that neither is a puck mover. Hagg was specifically instructed to work on being a stay at home (aka young AMac) defender. Its idiotic to have them paired together. Put Hagg with Provy, and pair AMac with a puck mover. If you really think Ghost is worth the risk 5v5, then him. Otherwise, get Sanheim out of the press box and see what he can do with a better partner.

Theyre also paying Del Rio more than most NHLers not to coach the raiders

I thought that Gruden flat-out denied that he was a candidate for the job...even after his (now former) employer said otherwise.

I don't see that. What I see is MacDonald carrying that pairing. Hagg should be sat out for a few games to reset in my opinion. He gets beat wide by a defenseman and fails to get stick position on Pulock's goal. MacDonald for whatever reason no matter how well he plays, he gets criticized.
- MJL

I see your point, but I think a bigger issue is they don't have any chemistry, and its hard for them to move the puck because neither of them historically has ever needed to do that. People her talk about Provy "carrying" AMac, but the reality is they made each other better. I think that Hagg made Ghost better, and that pairing worked, except when Ghost decided not to bother to play defense at all. Then, not so much. If they are not going to send Sanheim down, then they should sit Gudas, Ghost, AMac in a rotation and let the kid play.

Yeah I don't think Manning or MacDonald have been bad.

I know Gostisbehere is playing well but i also wouldn't mind getting the top 4 back to Provorov - MacDonald and Gostisbehere - Hagg. That seemed to be the most productive top 4 and had more people playing well.

Agree that Sanheim should be back in.

- J35Bacher

Agreed. Although, I don't think it matters as much who the pairings are as long as Ghost And Provy are separate. I agree with those who say AMac has not been as good since returning from IR. He seems less mobile, which for him is a real problem. I was watching him the last two games and wondering if he has a nagging lower body injury. I have been a Hak supporter, but the judgment of the AMac-Hagg pairing is troubling.
