I wouldn't do that.

Hoffman is 28 and making 5.187 this year and next.

If i am moving Simmonds I want a young roster player and 1st rounder and maybe even a prospect.

Colin White or Logan Brown would be more of a target. But i am not sure Ottawa would be a good partner. i think they will be selling at the TDL

That doesn't make sense to trade for Hoffman right now. He's already 28. He's a guy you trade for when you are one piece away from being a legit contender.

I don't buy the he's playing hurt scenario. Just a bad year. He's getting more minutes than his career average, his possession is down and has slightly more defensive zone starts than usual. Part of it is just bad luck too. Playing with Weise and Patrick hasn't done him any favors either.
