But was Hakstol in any way part of this organization before he was hired. Come on you are talking out of both sides of your freaking mouth if you consider Hakstol part of this teams history.

I'm also a little pissed about you talking down to the season ticket holders of the Flyers. Some of us see that the team is bad this year. We spent our money before this season started and expected improvement. Are we getting what we wanted no we aren't but we are also not going to dump our tickets over this season. The prospects are coming. 2 years ago when I upped from a 10 game plan to the full season it was due to seeing the possibility of this team becoming the next LA, Chicago, Pittsburgh due to the prospects they have in the system. Is it taking longer than expected sure. But I also see the reason for signing guys like Elliott, Weise and the like. They are the fillers to get to the prospects.

I'm not killing Hextall but I'm also not happy with some of his decisions. Lappy should have been gone long ago and yet he's still here and our PK is still horrid. I would love to see a guy with NHL experience hired to replace Lappy. I mean right now the only guy on our staff that had NHL experience at his job before he got here was Gord Murphy but he's part of the old boys network.

As for not going outside the organization even if you want to do the stretch to make Hakstol part of it what about Knobloch who was his most recent hire?

- dragonoffrost

Believe me, I am not saying men from outside the organization have not been brought in, but hell can you say that if the assistant GM of the LA Kings - if his last name wasn't Hextall that he would have been a shoe in for the next GM of the Flyers?

As for talking down to season ticket holders, I get how that could be taken in a bad context. In reality I am not ready to call for Hextall's head yet. I do think if he shows a lot of the same trends, and loyalty to his HC that time will come. Nothing sends a message quicker than decreasing profits.

We are all fans, some of us just crazier than others hah. All good from my end.

Well said. The only thing I would differ on is with regards to MacDonald. He should be moved back with Provorov in my opinion
- MJL

Mac recommendation was more for maintenance or just a mental reset...not based as much on play as I agree that his current pairing doesn't line up as well for him.

My sign will read: "Any ill will from me shifts to the fans who will go to the games to support this poop. No offense really if that is anyone on here, but those are the real contributors to the ineptitude." - flyer_nutter"

And I will get a "NUT YOU SUCK" chant going.

And somehow, nutter will still blame Hak and Hex.

You know I think you are a funny man kettle, I don't think you are a fan of the peanut, but I hold no bad feelings. Take it easy.

Nope on that one.

I actually do want to see them one day do well. I ride waves between apathy and frustration. That time will come, and it will make all this worth it. I do believe that.

When does it become brutal? 2 games, 3 games? I agree that I don't want Sanheim sitting long term but 3 games is not a big deal. Better players than him including Gostisbehere have sat out as long or longer in their young careers.
- MJL

it becomes brutal at exactly 3 games plus 10 minutes into the second period of the 4th game. Then after game 5 plus 3 and a half minutes into the 3rd period it becomes insidious.

Can you say that if he wasn't with the organization as a player that he wouldn't have been hired? One of the big reasons for the switch is that the Flyers realized that Hextall was well regarded around the league and that it was only a matter of time before another team offered him a GM job so Holmgren stepped down. What does that tell you? That has far more bearing on the situation than Hextall's history with the Flyers

I'm in South Jersey and work in Jenkintown. My boss called me at 6 last night and said "Do NOT kill yourself to get to work. You have vpn and a phone on the system at your house. Use it if you have to." Then I woke to a sinus/upper respiratory infection. Picked up the phone and said I'll be working from home

I did join the dark side. Too much BS with the club really, in my eyes anyway.

I miss those years with Lava, when they were a great team and fun to watch - more than you know. I haven't put my car flag up for years (only save it for playoff time).

Thi is not directed to this specific comment, but we are discounting what is happening in practices here as well. Maybe Sandheim is continuing to make bad defense reads or having poor gap control there and they are trying to pound home the point with holding him out until it starts gelling? Truth is unless we don't always have 100% of the picture.

Several weeks back I was overly critical of some of Travis' recent play at that time and thought I saw him shying away from the physical aspect of the game (as Bill and MJL pointed out to me). I may have chosen some of my words poorly and it came across as unduly harsh, but I felt like his game was moving quickly away from an acceptable level of physical play to a lot more of the early Karlson "Ole" approach. Frankly, the offensive upside wasn't there to excuse it IMO. That being said, I hope he takes a set back and simplifies his game again and just waits for the offense to come.

That being said he should spot in for Haag, Manning or Mac within a game or so.

- juiced

i don't have an issue with his not playing if they want him to clean up his defensive zone play. I just think he needs to be playing somewhere. if they want to go with
the 6 they have been send him down and call up Alt to sit

I think the struggle with being a fan right now is that we have been entertained for years either by good hockey, exciting players, or fisticuffs. This is the first time in a long time where we've been asked to be patient. While I would love the Lava years to return, it got us to where we are right now anyway. I can't fault the org for taking a different (and very un-Flyers like path). Hard to get upset when this season really doesn't matter, and the end result is still not relevant yet.

They are truly bad to watch right now, but there's no point in getting upset. What the (frank) does a Weise, Weal, Goulbourne, etc. matter in the lineup at this point? Not worth it.

in more pleasant news Sushko has 1 goal and 5 assists in 5 WJC games. Rubstov 1 goal and 3 assist in 5 games. hart 1.96 GAA and .920 save %.
- nastyflyergirl

Expecting more from Hart the next 2 games. Looked scared in the shoot out vs the states and let in a softy vs the Swiss. Glad it sounds like he's getting rid of his silly pre game ritual.

How does that change that the Head Coach was brought in from outside the organization?
- MJL

I guess they will only be happy if Hexy finds a headhunter service out of Cleveland, any place else would be too close to home, and get them to hire the next coach from outside the organization.

He didn't look all that focused in that swiss game. gotta think after losing twice to the USA in the shootout, if they play again, he will be on his game.

So the winner is...

Although I am not convinced this team would do this...they actually might...I am accepting the best offer (I think there may be better and feel free to try and beat it in these comments...)

A combination of the deal made by NJDevils and Delios001

To Montreal:
Simmonds
Sanheim-D
Lehtera-C
1st or 2nd Round Pick in 2019 or 2020 or Scott Laughton (Montreal can choose)
1st Round Pick in 2018 (Montreal can choose either Philly or St. Louis' Pick)

To Phildaelphia:
Price-G

Now would Philly, Hexy, consider this? There is no doubt Snider would have looked at any chance to get the best goalie in the NHL. The Flyers love Hart and he will be a stud keeper in the future...But will he ever be Carey Price? Price still has years left.. and Philly has the offense and D to support Price...

This is not a deal Hextall would seek out, but if Montreal called he would HAVE to think long and hard on this.

It is a deal that would help both teams.

Would the Flyers finally let someone else wear #31? That would be interesting as well.

2 Cups in LA is considered proof
- dragonoffrost

LA (and others recently) are proof that you need to find talent in the draft and develop it to be competitive. Calling it proof that of what Hextall is doing with the Flyers is a little revisionist history. I don't remember them drafting and developing Carter, Williams, Richards, Gagne, Mitchell, and Greene. They were a team that won with a veteran core, not a bunch of guys seasoned to the max in the AHL.

Pearson and Toffoli were both 21 when they won their second cup (skilled rookies added to an established core ) and they spent time in the AHL, but they came from junior hockey.

The two concepts just arent the same. I think Hextall wants to make the team play like the Kings in a lot of ways, and he certainly understands the value of drafting...but I find it impossible to look at both situations and say that is the path the Flyers are on. If that is the case you can argue pretty much every team in the NHL is on that "path"
