No I can't see him not being re-signed. It will really all depend on the contract he's after and if his agent and BT are in the same ball park. - geta02it
Backlund is a vary important player for the flames. And yeah kinda sucks that he is not having the same season he did last year, but that could work in Calgary's favour sign him at a cheaper rate for 2 maybe three more years. |

Well that's the thing...who are you bumping out of the top 6? Doesn't make sense.
GG is giving the vets time to prove themselves out of respect. He's slowly moving them out and moving the young guys in. It's the right way to do it.
Everyone just expects everything to happen overnight, it's annoying. - The-O-G

Is thinking along similar lines. I'm hoping we can sign Backs for around 4.5 mill |

Honestly I wouldn't be too upset if they lost Backlund. Personally I would like some more size/grit in the 2C spot, ideally he's a great 3C on a great team. I say this having zero recommendations for a replacement...I am just saying it wouldn't be the end of the world IMO.
If I were GM I would look to trade one of Dougie, Gio, or Brodie soon or in the offseason. The defensive prospects this team has are just too rich. Need to make room for Rass, Kyl, Vali, and Fox. |

I would agree unless there is any truth to Fox not wanting to play out West. Yeah I know we heard that all before with Gaudreau but Gaudreau knew we were wide open & starting a rebuild & he would easily slot into the lineup. With our D pipeline, well.... that's a different story. I would love to have Fox & when Harvards season is over, I would guarantee him a spot in our lineup to get him signed but we need to clear space. Either that or, I would go to him & see where he would like to play & line up a deal with an Eastern conference team. The return would be significant. Then I would make a deal & move one of our top 4 & possibly Stone in the summer/draft. |

Friedman touched on it on one of his radio spots. It was back in October. I’d take it with a grain of salt though, he always says that players don’t want to go to Calgary. |

Fox is a good prospect. I really can't see him bringing in a decent return, well the retuen we would want. especially if he doesn't want to be here.whuch I Dought is the case. Todd has been saying we are burning draft picks but I think the pool looks good. Dube, Fox, maki,, plus all the boys in the A. maybe it's just me? |

Happy New Year buddy!
Well if Tre doesn't want to fire the coach & we don't have the picks needed to add, he's going to need to do a significant roster player for roster player type of deal to shake up the chemistry on this team. I doubt he stands idle while our playoff chances dwindle over the next 5-6 games followed by a wicked road trip in February. He kinda screwed himself on the Hamonic deal.

Yeah I remember it was a while back that it leaked out but I hate that option for these US College picks & there have been a number of high profile kids that have gone that route. But I doubt Fox will want to keep in the College league when he knows he has huge going pro options this spring. |

I could see them switching Gaudreau to the right side if they can bring in a top line LW. Unless he's against it, there's really no reason he can't do what he does on either side.

Considering he can pretty much play for whoever he wants at this point, the Fox rumours will be there until he signs.

We had him on the right side last year when Cameron was trying different powerplay strats in the early season. He also destroyed world Jrs on the right side on the powerplay. He definitely can get a lot of goals from there. |

If he signs before the new year he can play in the ahl once his season is over in Victoria, after New Years not eligible. |
