Can anyone provide any insight on how this draft compares to last years? Last years was labeled as a “drop off” outside the top 2 picks. All I know about this years is it’s Defense-heavy and that Dahlin is God
- arichardson22

It's a pretty deep draft and really strong at the top. Most scouts see Dahlin as a can't miss #1 Dman. They also rate Svetchnikov and Zadina as impact 1st line forwards and Adam Boqvist is considered by most scouts to be an offensive dynamo on D. You are pretty much guaranteed a stud if you land a top 3 pick and you should come away with a really good player with any pick in the top 10-15.

I would love that myself but if people are complaining about boring hockey now, Sutter would be worse.

Unfortunately "He's the guy," Hextall said. "Dave Hakstol is our coach and he's going to remain our coach."

- SimmerDown17

In that case someone needs to shoot George AND Lennie.

OTOH, I've heard GM's say that about coaches the day before firing them.

I haven't even looked much. i am still curious to see what happens this year and at the TDL.

There are some solid wings at the top of the draft. The czech kid looks good.

Can i also say from watching Sushko at the world juniors, he looks like a solid prospect. He is bigger then I expected and has a nice shot.

I’ve heard some good things about Brady Tkachuk, but not sure if the last name helps with his bro and dad? I would love the flyers to get another winger that can score this draft. But it’s funny, in NHL17 or maybe this years, Susho always went very high in the draft and turns out to be an elite player. Let’s hope it happens lol

I wouldn't mind trying to pry Domi away from Arizona. His numbers don't look great right now but then again in Arizona who does?

The top 2 picks are gold like last years. Draft one of them, instant franchise changing impact bar none

Forget who said this, but someone the other day mentioned trying to snag Duclair from them. Wonder what his value is. Flyers have several picks and I know we ranked top 3 in every “top prospect” franchise rankings

All of this, yes please. I wonder, how do some roster players (guess the upper talent) feel about the minimal changes over the years? From the assistants to the players on the team. If you’re Jake G or even Simmonds, are you frustrated that the same awful PK coach is still holding a job for years? Are you unmotivated as a person and / or player when you feel little is being done to help yourself and your teammates? I don’t know the answers I’m just curious.
- arichardson22

I think it’s a legit point. Hextall basically let them know this thing is on ice for a few years.

I was actually thinking of even a smaller deal for Duclair.

Weal for Duclair?

Tkachuk is rated as the #1 center in this draft by most scouts though some see him eventually being a winger. Another center who the scouts really like is Rasmus Kupari. Kupari has good size, good wheels and skills and can do everything at top speed.

It's still early, but my top 10 right now would be:
1. Dahlin D
2. Svetchnikov RW/LW
3. Zadina RW
4. Boqvist D
5. Dobson D
6. Kupari C
7. Tkachuk C/LW
8. Farabee LW
9. Hughes D
10. Wahlstrom RW

I'm truly baffled how we can play such a sound game v bolts then come in and lay and egg against a hated rival.

Duclair shouldn't cost a ton. But I wouldn't bring him in here expecting him to be much more than a 3rd liner.

That said I'd love to see them grab a forward along those lines and staple Lehtera's ass to the popcorn machine.

I like Bode Wilde from Michigan.

Big defender. Cannon on the PP. Plays a physical game but can skate.

It's getting hard to watch this team any more. Someone wake me up when they make a trade or on draft day.
- BiggE

Wake you up when we trade for a draft pick and another throw in player like Lehtera because of the cap hit?

Bode Wilde.

I'm sold on the name alone. Kid probably has fabulous hair.

Edit: Name and face do not equate.

I actually wonder if they can use that pick for a young roster player that might be a RFA. Say someone like Anthansiou from Detroit. Maybe a team that is rebuilding would prefer the picks compared to paying for a RFA they are not sure they want longer term.

It's be clutch if they win the lottery again or at the very least jump more than 5 spots.

Who do we have to blow

- Giroux_Is_God

my goodness Dahlin has looked so good for Sweden. Also really liking Tkachuk, Svechnikov and Zadina. Moving up to get any of them would be amazing. Can't imagine we would be that lucky 2 years in a row tho

i think that is a waste of time...they have plenty of people to play on the team and it is now time to keep adding future players for when the young guys become the core

if provy/konecny/patrick/sanheim/hart all click together, drafting kids now will be huge for supplementing that talent

Could be a risky move if there's going to be another expansion draft in the next year or two. But I assume the GMs have a pretty good idea of the timeline for that.

I just want to see a lot more youth on this team next year. If they are going to finish with 85 points or so with a bunch of vets on the team, might as well finish with 80 and let the kids get experience. And for (frank)s sake, can we get a few forwards with some size and a little snarl too???

Come the start of 18-19 I just want to see the following traded, gone or in the press box:
Simmonds, Filppula, Lehtera, Weise, Leier, Weal, AMac, Manning and Neuvirth

Lets get guys like Sanheim, Morin, Lindblom, and Vecchs into the lineup plus some of what we can get back for trading Simmonds

This team needs to be younger, faster, bigger and more skilled. I can be patient waiting for them to gain experience and gel into a winner, but I'm tired of watching too many of the guys we have now. And for the love of God, if you aren't going to fire Hak after this season, at the very least make some changes with the assistants. You can't just come back with the same staff.

- BiggE

They need to get bigger and stronger. They need to get back to Flyer hockey, enough already of this Buffalo Sabre type of hockey.

Not sure if your being sarcastic but I am not sure it's a waste getting a more know commodity who is only 23 is going to be a waste. He can be part of your core going forward.
