Pronger trade too. Losing those assets just for a short time with Pronger hurt more. Our identify issue started around when he went down for good. - arichardson22
True, although I think it was more the bandaiding that went on more than what we gave up in the trade. Outside of Timonen, that 12/13 blueline was a complete mess.

they have none. i'm tired of the not ready excuse too. vegas is a rag tag team of decent players and they're schmightzing the poop out of everyone. overnight, jersey is a very good team. there are a lot of good pieces on the flyers, and i don't want to hear anybody blame the stopgap goaltending. once again, overall, it's been pretty good and not the problem.
just (frank)ing sick to death of the boring mediocrity in team play. jfc. - hammarby31
Jersey has 7 guys 23 and under contributing. I enjoyed watching Martel. he always seemed to make something happen. so what he isn't part of the future (if that is how they feel), at least he sparked some life into the team.
Young players either need to play here or elsewhere. Sitting Sanheim is stupid. Send him to LV if he still needs to work on his defensive game like they did with Laughton. at least next year we will see Laberge, Bunnaman, Rubtsov and Hart with the Phantoms and possibly Allison, Laczynski and Marody signed. More talent on the Phantoms which hopefully pushes more talent to the Flyers.
I love hockey and this team. been a fan since I was 7. seen lots of good and some bad and mediocre. Won't lie, last night sucked some life out of me. Seeing them lose 5-1 to the penguins with Filppula, Lehtera and Weise in the lineup just sucked the life out of me.

I can't really fault them for that. No one could have guessed Pronger would almost have his eye gouged out and have debilitating concussion symptoms for years.
What killed them was all the panic moves they made AFTER he got hurt.

The trade wasn't the problem at all. The career ending injury was the problem. With a time machine and no benefit of future vision I'd make that trade again.

and we got a HBO look at the crazy side of the goalie that pushed him out...
Isn't there a psych test/interview before signing someone to a huge contract - Konalover
bryz himself didn't push him out. his acquisition pushed him out, and i don't blame bob for wanting out exactly.
the flyers (frank)ed up in how they handled him in the playoffs, then (frank)ed up in acquiring bryz (which i understand WHY they did), and STILL had the opportunity to say to him: "listen, we know bryz is a nut job, and this is probably going to blow up in 2 years anyway, so PLEASE, just hang in there a bit, and if it's clear Bryz is going to truly succeed, we'll move you. develop and fight like you want the #1 job. you will end up #1 here or somewhere else. just be a little patient". my guess is they never had that conversation. if they did and he wanted out anyway, then so be it.
it still sucks my ass.

I doubt he would have understood more than "Please...fight...Bryz," if they told him that. His English wasn't very good at that time.

I should have clarified, I didn’t mean it was wrong or dumb bc as you said, no could see that happening to Pronger. The trade was great and it clearly helped us when he did play with/for us. But yes those panic moves screwed us. JVR trade and Amac signing mainly

Thanks for the positive outlook at the end of the article, Bill!
I thought the Flyers played great that 1st period, just didn't finish. I thought they played well the first half of the 2nd period too. I felt like it was just a matter of time before they broke through and took a stranglehold on the game. They were just the better team.... then, all of a sudden, the wheels fell off the damn bus. - Boyer83

I think it's time for the Flyers to start looking at trading some of their younger talent. In three years, Hart will be looking for Price money. Patrick will be asking $8-9 million per year. They will need space to resign MacDonald and Weise.
With Hart tearing it up right now his value is at it's highest.
Islanders will be looking for a goalie. Maybe Hart for Ladd + 2018 1st round pick

3 goddamn post last night - nastyflyergirl
how many posts did they hit in the previous game when murray got hurt? 4? 5? but they didn't quit and didn't give up any garbage. they just kept coming and got rewarded.
reminds me of the 08-09 playoffs, i forget which (both?)...where MAF had a (frank)ing horseshoe up his ass the whole time. post after post after post and then pucks put right back into him with wide open gaping nets. it never ends.

you want to move our future franchise goalie? and ...this is a big ...and...if Patrick is worth 9 million a year with in a few years, I don't see trading another cornerstone guy that young...but that's just my opinion.
