or you trade a future vezina goalie to sign a "today's flavor of the year" free agent.

I don't buy the excuse that there isn't enough talent in the organization to be good and competitive in this league. Just being young isn't really a valid excuse for me either.

I harken back to the days of yore when people would piss their pants coming in to face Flyers teams. Now teams can play a nobody goalie and watch us lay down like cheap whores. No disrespect to our politicians.

I just want to see more "WILL" added to their game.

the only thing that makes me not go on a 3 state killing spree about this is that bob has been poor in the playoffs. AND we have HOPEFULLY our future 2 years away. but (frank) it's hard to watch bob tearing it up every night and giggling while doing it, and sometimes blocker pumping your face after he just beat you in a (frank)ing shoot out. the irony.

Not that I want to rehash that, and I get that Bob wanted out before playing behind Bryz, but that trade bothers me.

My point being, was that I had faith in Bob and never wanted Bryz (signed) in the first place.

Bob has to prove it in the playoffs at some point though.

I’d personally like one of the reporters to ask GM if the current style/approach to the game is one he envisions going forward.

The answer would save me some time.

Hell right now, this is the Guy Boucher of GM’s.

If you want to look at a deal and trade that the team still hasn't fully recovered from, that's the one. Having a reliable #1 that you can count on year-in/year-out would have been great.

He isn't lacking in smugness though, but I can't completely blame him when dealing with philly media

Exactly. Most of them are nothing more than HB posters with a recorder and a deadline.

I also understand that GM may not openly say it, but if he is content with the level of coaching the team is getting that is an issue.

Blind loyalty.

I don't agree though. Mason was very good for almost the entire time he was here. He didn't win a Vezina or save nearly 93% of the shots he faced, but he also didn't make almost 8 million. I doubt Bob would've masked too many of the issues that plagued the team since he was traded

Thanks for the positive outlook at the end of the article, Bill!

I thought the Flyers played great that 1st period, just didn't finish. I thought they played well the first half of the 2nd period too. I felt like it was just a matter of time before they broke through and took a stranglehold on the game. They were just the better team.... then, all of a sudden, the wheels fell off the damn bus.

Pronger trade too. Losing those assets just for a short time with Pronger hurt more. Our identify issue started around when he went down for good.

Yes, but Mason is gone now and what we have is a good, average goalie. We haven't had a #1 since 12/13 when Bryz was deemed our #1. We've had Bryz/Mason/Neuvirth/Elliott as our 1/1A/1B guys since Bob was traded. I want stability in net and, yes, I want a top goalie. If we had resigned Bob and didn't have the money to sign big-time UFAs like MacDonald and Lecavalier, so be it.
