Ghoulborne is the kind of player people should root for. Guy busted his ass just to get an nhl contract. Has put in the work to earn his recall. Still a role in the nhl for players of his ilk.

He only has 38 penalty minutes, so not like he is playing with reckless abandon. Is a plus 8. Draws penalties.

Flyers have several issues. Maybe he can help address 1 of them.

No one is dissing Ghoul, is all about Hexy bringing up a kid who has very little potential to impact a game consistently. Especially when you have a player like Lindblom who is ready to play in the NHL, and has potential to impact a game effectively.

After calming down a bit, I'm fine with it. I just wish that they were bringing up Lindblom too and getting Weise, Lehtera and Leier all out of the lineup.

Lindblom is coming.....give it another couple weeks...If he sustains his current play then there is obviously room for him up with the big club.

Who knows, maybe this is Hexy testing Lindblom’s mental game lol? Trying to squeeze out a little more motivation and consistent play from him even though he’s been playing fairly well for however long? Idk it’s puzzling but not end of world.

Lets see what Ghoul does....from all Ive seen him (not much), he skates well and hits and brings an edge. If he can do that on a regular basis, there's room for him.

They matter right now. See my above post. They were on an 8-3-1 run before the Pens game. They are despite the wild inconsistency, still only 4 points out of a playoff spot.

They continue to play a 20 year old as their top defenseman. Despite how good he is, he can only do so much and really is still not at the level he is eventually going to be.

Their #2 pick, Patrick, is clearly not ready to make an impact at the NHL level forcing them to use Filppula, who is ideally a 3rd line center as their #2 center.

Other young players that they are counting on for the future to bolster the team such as Konecny, Sanheim, Morin, and Lindblom, are not ready to make an impact that can lift the team.

Hagg is a rookie defenseman that they are asking to play a big role that really isn't ready for it.

They basically have one consistent scoring line, and are asking a player in MacDonald who is basically at best a 2nd pair defenseman to do a lot of the heavy lifting.

Players who they were counting on to produce more such as Simmonds and to a lesser extent Weal have not had good seasons. Gudas has not had a strong year.

Hextall is basically in the 3rd year of his plan. I understand the frustration but nothing has changed with that. It's still about the future.

But these are the veterans and roster he constructed. He could of gotten a better veteran than dale Weise on a 4 year deal. We could of chosen more reliable defenseman than MacDonald and gudas to anchor the d. I agree the future and kids are going to make or break us but we are relying on them and the coaching staff to develop them. And it's not working as expected.

Again, how long do you give Hextall to build this team into a solid, contending playoff team?

On 2nd thought, never mind, you're obviously not going to answer this question.

- BiggE

How can I give a specific answer to that. What do you want, a date? This is to be fair the 3rd year of the rebuild if you will. I also asked a question about how many of the actual young player who are considered part of the rebuild are actually on the team? What do you think that was about? Either didn't understand it or ignored it. To sum it up, in my opinion we are no where near the point where Hextall should be questioned in regards to that. It is still basically in it's infancy. Imagine Provorov at 23, and Sanheim, Patrick, and Konecny all 2-3 years older and more developed hopefully. What kind of impact just those players alone becoming much better players would make on this team? That doesn't even include any of the other potential prospects they have? How has the results of this season to this point, changed any of that? You want to call Hextall out on the carpet now, knock yourself out. Shortsighted in my opinion. Anyone wants to hang their hat on Weise and Lehtera, knock yourself out. Remember when they wouldn't have any problem replacing Schenn's offense and was in favor of the trade, which I still am but I also knew it would hurt this team now. I'm still okay with it but there is a lot of complaining about the team now.

I'll answer yours though. Here are the current Flyers that I expect will still be on the roster when they are ready to contend.

Couturier
Voracek
Giroux
Patrick
Konecny
Provorov
Ghost
Sanheim
Hagg

Laughton could possibly still be on the roster as the spare center and Elliott could be here as a veteran backup. That's about it.

So in terms of the rebuild and adding younger players to build up the roster, there's 6 on that list that meet the criteria. Just the beginning.

IMO you cant compare the 2, ghouls recall is independent of Lindblom. Ghouls isnt going to be tasked with playing a top 9 scoring role. He will be asked to fill an entirely different role then what they have planned for lindblom.

Clearly the GM doesn't think the swede is ready for a scoring role in the nhl yet. We can all disagree. Based on ronalds previous track record he will not rush anyone. So why people are surprised is a little baffling.

He's been shopping in the bargain bin without wanting to give up any future assets to try and make this team competitive. MacDonald is extremely reliable as a veteran defenseman despite a lot of the unfair criticism he receives. Gudas has not had a great year but in the past has been a solid player. Is that Hextall's fault that Gudas has not played well overall this season comparative to his past? The term given to Weise is a fair criticism and Weise hasn't contributed as well as they like but despite that still brings some qualities to the lineup that coaches like, which is why he remains in the lineup.

It's not working more due to players like Simmonds and Weal not contributing as well as they liked, and younger players like Patrick who simply aren't ready moreso than MacDonald and Weise.
