I like Bode Wilde from Michigan.

Big defender. Cannon on the PP. Plays a physical game but can skate.

He's just outside my top 10 right now, but there is still a lot of season left. Other than the top 3, my list will likely change quite a bit between now and the draft.

Right now, I really can't see the Flyers picking lower than 10th or maybe 11th so they are going to get a very good player no matter what. One thing that I do have faith in when it comes to Hextall as a GM is his ability to draft. It's why I'd love to see Simmonds moved to a bubble team like Edmonton or Calgary with their 1st (top 3 protected, which is fine) coming back. I can see the Flyers, especially if they move Simmonds falling to the 6th or 7th pick (and maybe top 3 with some luck) and then you'd have another pick somewhere between 10-15 plus the St. Louis 1st and a high 2nd. That would give the Flyers a ton of flexibility to make moves at the draft.

OTOH, I've heard GM's say that about coaches the day before firing them.

I hear you but I just don't get that feeling from Hextall. Hak is signed on until 2021-22 for $2 mil a year. I don't think the ownership would like spending millions for Hak not to coach. Hextall did terminate Berube with 1 year left but 1 year was a lot easier pill to swallow.

I am not taking any picks that have top 3 protection. Because if I get that first pick I want Dahlin.

They signed Hak for 6 years? I thought it was 5; 16-17 thru 20-21

right now they would be drafting 9th. Florida is one point behind. Detroit, Edmonton and Vancouver only 3 behind. lots of season left tho. so much can happen

I think next year is the big year for Hakstol. I think it will be closer to the team Hextall sees. If they are in the same place next year I think you would see him on the hot seat.

There is no way in hell a bubble team is going to give you their first without top 3 protection for Wayne Simmonds. I'd be fine with a pick in the top 10-15 and a young NHL ready player for him. I think that's a fair deal.

Then they can make a move somewhere else.

I don't want any protections on that first rounder. Especially since they get simmonds for the playoff run and another year at a fair deal.

Well then he probably at least starts next season, but he may not finish it, if things don't improve.

Good luck. I just don't think he's a good enough player to get you that, but I'd love to be wrong.

You negotiate.

Maybe you take a lesser prospect to not have any protections.

If they want top 3 protection then i want a better prospect.

I think the more likely scenario would be a trade in the top 5 at the draft...even that is pushing it...one of the EDM, MTL, or VAN GMs are dumb enough to do it

With Edmonton playing the way they are, especially after last years playoff run I wonder if they would prefer a guy like Simmonds to try and get them in the playoffs.

Thing with trading Simmonds, is if you are going to do it - why not have just done it last year or the year before when he had more value? Was this extra time with him in the organization really worth it?

Half ass rebuild.

Now you're just angry about hypothetical stuff that didn't happen. Take a deep breath

Tkachuk is rated as the #1 center in this draft by most scouts though some see him eventually being a winger. Another center who the scouts really like is Rasmus Kupari. Kupari has good size, good wheels and skills and can do everything at top speed.

It's still early, but my top 10 right now would be:
1. Dahlin D
2. Svetchnikov RW/LW
3. Zadina RW
4. Boqvist D
5. Dobson D
6. Kupari C
7. Tkachuk C/LW
8. Farabee LW
9. Hughes D
10. Wahlstrom RW
